Hello Spark People Friends, I am forty-nine years old and is the sole guardian of my two-year-old granddaughter. I promised myself that I will continue to invest time in my fitness and health. When I was young, I gave everything I had to my family. I still ended up divorced and my children chose to live with their father. I gained 30 pounds in three months. I felt like a failure. That wasn't the end, I started having back problems and found out that I had osteo-arthritis in my neck and upper back. The pain is excruciating. I decided that I wasn't finished living yet. As soon as my back pain subsided, I started exercising and eating right. I lost the 30 pounds I gained after the divorce and the extra ten. I even changed the way I dressed. I was frumpy and bought whatever was on sale. I cared for others, and I was the last one on the list. My seventeen year old daughter got pregnant. I prayed out to God "what else can I do - I can't do this anymore". But God had other plans, since I first laid eyes on my granddaughter, it was instant LOVE. She is a joy, but I am a single parent and Lord knows this is hard. God gives me a renewed strength every morning. I work out M-F at 5:00 a.m. for an hour and two hours on Saturday. I will never compromise who I am ever again.

My Goals:
My goal is to be more fit at 50 than I have ever been in life. I'm not talking about weight, because I don't want to be as small as I used to be as a teen. I'm talking about being able to run a 5K in less than 30 minutes, stronger than I've ever been, more ripped.
My Program:
I work out 6 out of 7 days - Mon, Tues, Thurs, Saturdays are run days (I'm following a routine that gets you ready for a Half Marathon in 3 months). I'm running 6 miles at the moment. I do strength training on Mon, Wed, Fri.
Personal Information:
I'm originally from Detroit, Michigan - but moved to Dover, Delaware when I was married. I've been divorced for quite a while now, but haven't moved (YET).
Other Information:
I love listening to all kinds of music, from classical to hip hop and rap. My playlists vary so much, that I could be a library. Lady Sings the Blues is my favorite movie (my mom kept me out of school so that we could see it together).
