I grew up in Chicago and moved to the south in my teens. I never had any weight problems growing up, but they started to creep up on me in my 20s and 30s and I've battled it off and on ever since.

I now live in northeast Mississippi and I am 57yrs old and married...I'd like to use this page to help myself get healthy (and losing weight is PART of that goal). I have some health issues that I hope to resolve as I work on and accomplish this. I have been active off and on throughout my life. Sometimes more active than other times and my eating habits have kind of been all over the place..I've gone for a couple of years at a time to eating junk and then again I've gone for long periods of time eating very healthy..In recent years (say the last 4-5 years, overall, it's been healthy).

In November 2006 I started to suffer with neuropathy in my feet. I thought it was my varicose veins causing it, since I had my blood sugar checked and it was fine (but diabetes runs in my family, my grandmother was type 1 and most of her children, my mother included are type 2). I also had a Lupus test done because that runs in the women on my father's side, 3 aunts h av e /had it. Heart disease runs mostly in the men on my dad's side too, and heavily in men and women on my mother's side, so I do try to take care of myself..My cholesterol levels the last time that I had them checked were extremely high and I have been working on that too..I had varicose vein surgery back in October of 2007 and I try to take care of my legs too..You know they haven't figured out what exactly is causing my neuropathy..I had my thyroid levels checked and my TSH levels were 3.1, so that could be the problem.. I started taking extra virgin coconut oil and that started helping me with the thyroid symptoms, that and some thyroid drops that I got at the health food store..I also started to eat more thyroid healthy foods like avocados etc...AND dropped alot of my lost weight, while doing this. Then I stopped doing all that and gained it all back....Anyway I want to overcome ALL OF the negative and start making positive changes again, as I learn about them.. (Another reason being that the last couple of times I went to the dr, my blood pressure was up!!)I have all of the pressure points pain for fibromyalgia, so I want to nip that in the bud too, if I can and not have to take medication. (( I already take neurontin for my nerupathy and they prescribed me the Cymbalta) but that stuff is sooo expensive!) I figured that upping my exercise and going on a more whole food organic diet(NO JUNK FOOD!) will be just the ticket! I both need motivation and want to be a motivator.
UPDATE: I was just diagnosed with Lupus,as well as, the Fibromyalgia. I am now on 4 meds. REALLY do need to buckle down on this now!

Myhusband and I are trying to do this together, although he is a long distance truck driver, so it makes it difficult for us to actually work on this "together. And it's really hard for him to exercise and eat right on the road. So it is mostly up to me. My program? I started using shakeology and streaming the exercise videos from the beachbody site. These 2 changes have really helped me immensely and I've lost 30 lbs so far since starting, so I decided to become a coach and help others. I also do other exercises. Started dancing again. Also starting back on my yoga too.

I have 2 cats, 6 yrs, a Siamese named Asia and a fluffy grey striped mix named Holly.. A Boston Terrier named Samson , 5 yrs old. A Dachshund mix named Brisket, almost 3..I will try to post new pics of them. I also have 2 parakeets, Bluey and Sunny.

I am into alternative healing, stones and crystals, Reiki and Lavender Flame, essential oils, herbs, etc...and I have recently started learn about the Wise Woman Tradition in healing.

I love reading, cooking, collecting recipes (and other stuff) I enjoy yoga, walking, swimming, and dancing, green tea, herbal infusions, etc..

And I love feeding the seagulls. You can look right into their eyes, when they are hovering above you.

And I really enjoy a nightly glass of wine...or two...:-)

I have spent much time working on my Genealogy..If you would like to see my tree. You can find my trees on Ancestry.com

Hot yoga is done in a room that is 98 to 105 degrees. They are 26 poses for 90 minutes. It is called hot yoga because it is sweltering hot in the room that you practice in. For more information look up Bikram yoga and or hot yoga in Google.

"Imagine that day, when you can finally say, 'I never gave up. I never quit.' Imagine the day when you win a gold medal or reach your goal weight. Imagine these moments of pain as mere memories. It might take a long time to reach that moment, but as soon as you get there, you'll thank yourself for the rest of your life." (Unknown)
