Six years ago I did the Dublin Marathon. I lost 15 pounds during the six months of training, reaching my lowest weight in my adult life.

Since then, I have slowly been packing on the pounds. A combination of inactivity, compulsive eating, and medication have caused me to gain close to 100 pounds. I don't really care about what the extra weight has done to my appearance. Rather, I miss the extra energy I had. A three mile walk used to be NOTHING to me; now, anything longer than a mile makes me achy and tired.

I'm tired of feeling this way. I want my energy back! So yes, I am one of the few people who want to lose weight for health reasons.

I don't care for diets. You won't find me doing Atkins or South Beach. What I want to do is introduce healthful eating habits into my life, so that good health becomes a habit. Weight loss will be a pleasant side effect, hopefully. :)

I'm looking for buddies with similar goals in mind. I also need some help sticking with it. I have depression that flares up from time to time, and when the depression hits it's really hard to do the things I need to do. Having someone there to remind me to take care of myself would be very helpful. :)

Choosing better foods. Getting a little more exercise. Not restricting my diet. Striking the words "I''ve been bad" out of my vocabulary. Learning how to cope with emotions in ways other than food.
