May 2017. I am 40 lbs lighter than I was in the beginning of 2008. However, I actually lost almost 100 lbs and have gained over half of it back which I am not proud of. I'm a type 2 Diabetic and my blood sugars are out of control. I need to get myself back to healthier eating and focus on controlling my blood sugars as well as my weight. The most frustrating part is I know what to do for the weight, I just can't seem to stick with it. And, if I get my diet back on track I'm sure my blood sugars will improve. I gravitate towards those salty,crunchy snacks that are not healthy for me. Especially when I'm in pain, which is most all the time, I want something to crunch on and I don't want carrots or celery when my pain level is high.

Hi. I'm Vickey, I'm a 59 yr old wife, mother and grandmother and I'm working on becoming a healthier me. When I started my journey with SparkPeople in 2008 I was 354.5 lbs. I was desperate, had tried every diet ever invented and then some. I couldn't afford to join the sites that cost money and then one day doing a search I found SparkPeople.

Today I am so grateful for SparkPeople. I no longer diet but instead am developing healthier eating habits. I've encountered some ups and downs, even some huge pot holes recently. but through it all I've continued on and share SparkPeople with everyone I meet so it can offer others hope too.

My Goals:
Short Term Goals:
* chair exercise at least 3 times/wk.
*lose 1 lb per week
* Track my food daily/make healthy choices
* Track my blood sugars.

Long Term Goals:
* Lower my weight by 100+ lbs
* Get fasting BS within 20 points of normal range.
* decrease chronic pain level


My Program:
My program involves no fad diets this time, focus on limiting carbs and making healthy choices.

- avoid Stress eating
- eat more fresh fruits & veggies
- avoid processed foods
- watch the carbs & sugars
- get moving - chair exercises, stretching, whatever I can find that I can do.
- track what I eat



Personal Information:
I've been married 39 yrs & have two grown children (boy 36 & girl 31), and I'm the proud grandmother of four wonderful granddaughters.


Other Information:
Living with constant pain is extremely difficult and challenging. I have a habit of turning to crunchy / salty foods, such as chips. It is a habit I'm trying to replace with healthier choices.
