I started having weight problems in my 30's and have been riding a seesaw of weight-loss and weight gain. The years of being tall and thin have spoiled me. I used to be able to eat anything and everything that I wanted. Childhood issues, periods of depression, therapy, medications, divorces and crises fostered unhealthy dependence on junk food and food in general to mitigate unhappiness. Now I realize that I will probably have to be careful about my weight for the rest of my life.

I would like to get off this path of self-destruction and find a road that leads to a healthier, happier me. :) Maybe one that replaces stress and boredom eating with exercise or hobbies.

Personal Information:
I was born in my mother's hometown of SE Arkansas where we were staying with my grandparents while my dad served in Viet Nam. After my dad came home from Viet Nam, I grew up on Army bases until I graduated high school. I have lived all over the states as an Army brat, but I also moved quite a bit on my own until I finally settled back in my hometown to be near my family in 1997.

I'm married with two beautiful daughters, ages 20 and 15. I work as a district court clerk and have been doing that for 10 years.

I am frequently uneasy when I am out of my comfort zone and have suffered from anxiety for my entire life.

Other Information:
My maternal grandmother was from Straid, Ireland. Someday I'd like to go there.

I love to read, watch movies and listen to all kinds of music from Chopin to Metallica.

I'm starting to feel the "empty nest" fear creep in on me. My youngest daughter will start college in only two years.

My mother passed away from cancer in Oct. 2005 after a 2 1/2 year battle. I'm still trying to learn how to live without her.

I admire those who strive to reach their goals in the face of adversity. Hang in there! We are all in this together!
