Time to get serious
After a huge wake up call from my doctor I am back on track, this time for good. I am reading up on nutrition, not just weight loss this time. I have several coworkers who are pitching in to keep each other on track, a friend to help me during those dinners out, a husband who is willing to try a few new foods and a doctor ready to scare me back to reality if I don't take it seriously. Really I feel I have the best support line up so far. I've lost 5 pounds so far towards my first ...
I've lost 5 pounds so far towards my first goal of 50, so I am 10% of the way there!! I am super pumped and have spent the past couple of weeks really gearing myself up for the long hall. Even purged my kitchen cupboards.

My Goals:
I chose 50 pounds for my first goal. My doctor thinks that is a good place to start. With family history and weight I am heading towards becoming a diabetic. My primary goal is to keep that from happening.
My Program:
I am going to follow my doctor's advice. 1400 calories a day, a little more on days I exercise. He also suggested coming up with just a few options for each meal until I get on a role. My doctors advice of limiting myself to just a couple of meal options just did not work for me. I get bored with food very quickly. So I am gradually trying to adapt advice from Gillian McKeith's "You Are What You Eat" TV Show and book. Not the dramatic 8 week version you see on tv, but a gradual integration of whole foods.
Personal Information:
I'm married with 2 fur babies. I live in a quiet town. I'm a retail manager in a department store. I'm a Farscape fanatic.
