I am in a pre-nursing mode at school (hopefully when I apply I will get selected). While taking anatomy and physiology, you really get to learn and see what all that unhealthy living does to you. Even though you already knowwhat;s healthy and what;s not, reading and learning about it really hits home. But I am struggling with real weight loss. I heard about SparkPeople and thought it looked like an excellent website to try. I am excited about all the help here. I have considered Lap Band and may still do that if I have to, but I would prefer doing it the natural way, especially since I have heard about people relapsing because they are still dealing with emotional issues. I would like to take care of those now. If I can, I know this will work for me.

My Goals:
One step at a time. We all want to lose fast, but I know that by just losing 2 pounds a week, I will have lost over 100 by the end of a year. That's a lot! :^)

My Program:
I have a busy, busy life, so may plan at the moment is to change a few things every week that gets me closer to my goal. This week, I plan on eating more fresh vegetables and fruits, less processed foods, begin an excercising routine, and give myself some free time each week that I can enjoy doing something I like to do - guilt free (because there is always something that needs to be done around the house.)

Personal Information:
I live in Texas. I work full time, go to school part-time. This semester I am taking Anat. and Phys. 2 and Creative Writing 2. Strange combination, but I love them both. I am going into nursing because I have always wanted to and I love to write because I have always had a love for it. Haven't in many many years until I took my first creative writing class a while back. I am also active in our local Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. We are volunteers for our local police department. It's one of the most fun and satisfying things I have done in years. Sadly, it is the one thing I had to downsize once I returned to school. I am in my second (and last!) marriage. We have been married for 5 years and it's been different as night and day from the beginning. We have two daughters and one son, all grown. The youngest is still in college and lives at home with us. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats. We love to camp but don't get much chance too lately. Maybe soon.

Thank you so much for you comments on my 'newly diagnosed diabetics' forum. It's people like you giving people like me encouragement that makes this site so great! I didn't know that about changing the exercise. I'll have to try mixing it up a little and see what happens!
