My sweet Romey (aka: Romeo, feral in pic) he lives inside now and loves it
Our cat Tabitha. You can't tell by the pic but her eyes are lime or spring green. Very pretty.
A big bowl of feral kitties after they ate. We tamed them and all have homes now. Gracie's on top.
Hi, I have a lot to lose and have been fighting my weight since I was a teenager. Since suffering 3 premature births (and losses) and then having my daughter over 23 years ago, my weight has crept up year after year until here I am - 140 pounds later, about twice what I was before. I am in a pre-nursing mode at school (hopefully when I apply I will get selected). While taking anatomy and physiology, you really get to learn and see what all that unhealthy living does to you. Even though you already knowwhat;s healthy and what;s not, reading and learning about it really hits home. But I am struggling with real weight loss. I heard about SparkPeople and thought it looked like an excellent website to try. I am excited about all the help here. I have considered Lap Band and may still do that if I have to, but I would prefer doing it the natural way, especially since I have heard about people relapsing because they are still dealing with emotional issues. I would like to take care of those now. If I can, I know this will work for me.
One step at a time. We all want to lose fast, but I know that by just losing 2 pounds a week, I will have lost over 100 by the end of a year. That's a lot! :^)
I have a busy, busy life, so may plan at the moment is to change a few things every week that gets me closer to my goal. This week, I plan on eating more fresh vegetables and fruits, less processed foods, begin an excercising routine, and give myself some free time each week that I can enjoy doing something I like to do - guilt free (because there is always something that needs to be done around the house.)
I live in Texas. I work full time, go to school part-time. This semester I am taking Anat. and Phys. 2 and Creative Writing 2. Strange combination, but I love them both. I am going into nursing because I have always wanted to and I love to write because I have always had a love for it. Haven't in many many years until I took my first creative writing class a while back. I am also active in our local Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. We are volunteers for our local police department. It's one of the most fun and satisfying things I have done in years. Sadly, it is the one thing I had to downsize once I returned to school. I am in my second (and last!) marriage. We have been married for 5 years and it's been different as night and day from the beginning. We have two daughters and one son, all grown. The youngest is still in college and lives at home with us. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats. We love to camp but don't get much chance too lately. Maybe soon.

I once extended my to the SoulCollage SparkPeople team, then kinda went offline! Ooooh, I regret that it's taken awhile to get back to you , but I promise I had good reasons (explained below)! We're now SparkFriends (how could I have missed you?), so I look forward to sharing your SoulCollage journey, in its own time.
In case your interest continues, I wanted to include you in my update. By the frequency of your page comments, you sound busy. I leave this message in case you're still occasionally online. You're among our team veterans!
I have a special offer created with you in mind!
I'm in the process of planning ongoing, online (probably monthly) workshops for SoulCollage card-making and card-reading in community , ideally with an online classroom so we have live access to one another for that block of a few hours. My goal is to mirror the actual workshops I have facilitated in person. The difference is, in the Spirit of SparkPeople, these workshops are free! Monthly groups are by sign-up, so there is no obligation.
SoulCollage through the venue of SparkPeople is so exciting to the SoulCollage.com community that we have the enthusiastic support of author Seena Frost and her staff. On top of THAT, KaleidoSoul creator (and Sparker) Anne Marie Bennett asked to co-lead our SparkSoulCollage this time around.
Okay, okay, I've been MIA after jumping into the Spark pool last year in spring . But, hey, a baby arrived (grandson) who needed "daycare," so my absence has been honorable (and fun!). On top of that, I've recently rescued a Golden Retriever . I call them my two golden B-Boys (Brock and Bradyn).
Please, please say I can count you in! (I equally welcome hearing if it is not a fit right now. I promise: No judgment or tears .)
Regardless of where your path leads, I hold you in ongoing affection and wish the best for you.

Thank you so much for you comments on my 'newly diagnosed diabetics' forum. It's people like you giving people like me encouragement that makes this site so great! I didn't know that about changing the exercise. I'll have to try mixing it up a little and see what happens!
