Why I'm here

Hi! I'm Steve a 63 year-old RETIRED High School teacher. I have a son and daughter and another daughter. My youngest daughter heavily involved in raising my two granddaughters.

I started a weight-loss program with a starting weight of 233...current weight 235+.

I'm good at visualization: I can see myself looking like I want to look. I do work towards the vision...then, CRAP, I for no apparent reason begin to undo what I 'just done'. I know that somewhere ...

One of the rewards of getting older is you can slow down. Sometimes its at your chosen pace, other times your body makes those choices. That's what happened to me. Osteo-arthritis came first. It took up residence in my shoulder and knee. Then came torn and worn cartilage. Quickly followed by a knee arthroscopy, then physical therapy.
Here's the real bite: I could've avoided most of the pain and surgery had I dropped the weight when I first noticed what was going on. Yep, I've had two O.D.'s tell me that.
So now the weight loss is to help with the healing and lessening the discomfort.

OK I don't know what the ____ I have in mind, except maybe to share some latest writing, be readers for each other in a friendly email connection or something, and possibly to be willing to edit a little bit for each other. Self publishers need that. Would also like to talk shop. I am in the process of printing my own self pub guide that I wrote for my own use. Took a lot of stuff off the internet like sample writing contracts, and wrote my own instructional chapters so don't have to reinvent the wheel everytime I send a book to POD. I am REALLY excited about this book. It think it will be a turning point for me. 2015 will be the fourth SP (self publishing) year for me. But what i am always interested in the most is what the other guy is currently writing because it is the most exciting at the time, isn't it? So what are you working on now? Very interested. Hope you will enjoy talking about your latest work, it is always so creative and sort of thrilling to write, isnt it? How did you get into it, as part of your teaching work, or did you always write? What genres have you tried? Various? I love to write humour but I am not great at it, but not too bad and it is so fun to write. You can laugh while you write, at least. sarah

You are not the only one who started spark and after initial time, weighed in HEAVIER! The fat thing is an up and down experience, but I greatly appreciate this spark site that supports continuing effort and liberal choices in approach. I got a big kick out of your looking for a higher power behind the sofa. lol
