I started on SP in July of 2007 because I wanted to lose weight and be healthier so I will feel better and look better in my clothes. It worked!! I lost about 20 or 25 pounds. I have an orthopedic condition and back problems. I started with a moderate amount of cardio (45 minutes 3-4 days a week) either walking in my neighborhood if the weather is good or a cardio DVD if the weather won't let me go outside, and some light weight training at the suggestion of my chiropractor. I usually manage to do that at least two days a week. I used to lift a lot in high school and college and it's nice to be back doing something I enjoy. At my most fit early in 2008 I was working out about five days a week and I had progressed from beginner level dance routines and some light weights to a full fifty minute kickboxing routine with moderately heavy weights. If someone had told me a year earlier that I would be kickboxing and searching for more challenging workouts I would have thought they were nuts!!

In the summer of 2009 a year after I was laid off I lost my apartment and moved in with friends. It's REALLY hard to maintain healthy habits when someone else prepared almost all the meals, and has terrible habits.....combined with a new, very stressful job. I did okay at first, but by the end of the first year I was tired, and by the end of the second year I had gained back every ounce I lost and packed on an extra 20 pounds on top of it. I was the heaviest I have ever been in my life. Since I moved to my own place in August I've lost about 10 pounds. Most of my exercise is walking my aging dog, and cleaning my new place, but I'm sure that if I get back to working my program I can get back to a healthy weight.
