Update 10.30.16:

I'm back, I'm glad to say. I'm about the same weight as when I left -- about 25 lbs down from my top weight of 288.
My road has twisted and turned, but I am healthier by so many measures. Now its time for regular walking/swimming and weight loss. Oh, and I want to have more fun.

I'm divorced now for about 3 years and my two grown sons are out of the area. I've moved twice since leaving these pages, and am now in my own house, with my dogs.

I need this community, and I'm so glad to be back. I see success after success here. More about me updates and blogs to come.
______

I am on the road to health - with fits and starts along the way. My highest weight was 288 and I started Sparkpeople seriously at 280 in April, 2013, determined to lose at least 100 pounds. I've lost 30, gained some back, but I'm on the road.

I'm losing 'from the inside out" -- getting healthy in body, mind, and spirit, with the love and encouragement from so many Sparkfriends in this wonderful community. This, I know, is what I need for long term stable weight loss.

I've been though major life changes here, and I keep learning to love myself, treat myself well, and thus eat better and move my body.

My nutrition is mostly whole foods, plant based. Some fish when dining out.

    ~~~~The Five "W"'s of Life~~~~
    WHO you are is what makes you special.
    Do not change for anyone.
    WHAT lies ahead will always be a mystery.
    Do not be afraid to explore.
    WHEN life pushes you over,
    you push back harder.
    WHERE there are choices to make,
    make the one you won't regret.
    WHY things happen will never be certain.
    Take it in stride and move forward.
    These 5 "W"'s are
    A Wonderful Way to Wake-up on Wednesday!!!
    Enjoy the day!!
    This tip is from Cleveland Clinic Chief Wellness Officer Mike Roizen, MD, from his new book, This Is Your Do-Over. Here’s a sneak peek at his essential do-over deeds.
    We all have disagreements sometimes. Life isn't about holding hands and singing happy tunes to hide our troubles. However, you need to decide if you want to be a "but" or an "and" kind of person. The “but” people don’t want solutions. They want to settle. They want to wallow in their misery. The “and” people find solutions to problems. They inspire others to do their best. They contribute to the growth of people and ideas — and, ultimately, to the health of us all. Even if you are an avowed lifelong naysayer, you still have the opportunity to discover your inner enthusiast. Once you find your purpose and passion, your optimism will increase and your do-over becomes stronger and stronger. In the end, optimism is really just about cultivating happiness in your everyday moments.
    Treating "any old job" as if it were your dream job is the fastest way to spark the kind of life changes that will yield your dream job.
    Same for any old house, friend, day, life, or pair of shoes. emoticon
