Less Sparking, More Progress

INSANITY: Doing the same things over and over but expecting different outcomes.

I have been on here off and on since 2008 without much success. I finally had my wake up call and realized that I was just spinning my wheels. I decided to leave and join Weight Watchers. I found the program a better fit for me because it is simpler. It is not as exact as the Spark Tracker, but I found that I got too OCD with the tracker and wasted a LOT of time logging my food. I have been on here off and on since 2008 without much success. I finally had my wake up call and realized that I was just spinning my wheels. I decided to leave and join Weight Watchers. I found the program a better fit for me because it is simpler. It is not as exact as the Spark Tracker, but I found that I got too OCD with the tracker and wasted a LOT of time logging my food. I let myself get hung up on stupid details like the capitalization of the name of the food being proper, making sure everything was spelled correctly, and re-entering foods for something as ridiculous as .5 grams being off. I found some freedom with weight watchers because that really is more of an estimate. The app made it much easier to quickly look up foods and enter them on my phone. I have found spark people to be almost too detailed for me. I kind of got distracted by all the different teams, feeds, message boards, etc.

What I found most importantly of all was that I wasted a lot of time reading everyone else's blogs and commenting when I should have been exercising or packing a healthy lunch. I let it turn into too much of a social arena instead of a tool to get healthy. Now I am back with a very small group of core friends and I am hoping that will be manageable. I would love to update my profile with some new pictures but for some reason I can't upload them. Perhaps when I get a new Internet service this month that will fix the problem.

I am 57 years old and have been struggling with my weight ALL my life. Sadly, when I was younger I thought I was fat when really, I was healthy. Had I not had such a skewed body image then, I do not believe I would have become so obsessed with weight and food and ended up where I am today. In the 70s as a teenager, I hated my GINORMOUS hips. They were 37 inches and I was 5 feet 7 inches tall. Hah! Youth is so wasted on the young!

Loves animals - especially rabbits

Beatles fan and all classic rock and roll

Wanted desperately to go to Woodstock, but was only 12 years old at the time

loves the colors turquoise and aqua - the color of the Caribbean
