Hey, I'm Haylee, and I am here for my own encouragement as much as I am for yours!
I joined this site back in 2007 but didn't use it much. Now that I am serious about weight loss again I plan to be here everyday to stay accountable.
I am currently 230 lbs and looking to get down to 180, then maintain for a while, and then lose more weight until I'm officially not overweight anymore!
My main problem that has always held me back is my compulsive overeating and binging.
I don't know what it's like to not be fat, period. I have been overweight since I was in pre-school and I am 27 now. I began comforting myself by sneaking food and binging in secrecy during my entire childhood and on-and-off throughout my adult life.
My "cute" pre-school chubbiness was never outgrown, because I had learned already by that age that it felt good to eat as much as I could get away with. It only got easier as I got older and was able to cook my own meals.
Exercise was, surprisingly a fun idea to me as a pre-teen, and I started a calisthetics routine that I did religiously for years and did a lot of walking. Lack of exercise wasn't a big issue, the eating was.
When I was 16 I decided "this is the year!" and set out for a once-and-for-all weight loss effort. I learned all about nutrition, calorie consumption, weight loss, and more about exercise. I succeeded in losing 65 lbs that year - from 240 lbs down to 175 lbs!
My confidence was sky-high! I LOVED being photographed! I admired myself in the mirror every chance I got! I learned to appreciate food and really TASTING every bite instead of the binging mentality I had before.
But I snapped soon after that. I couldn't take it. I started binging again like there was no tomorrow.
After that big weight loss there have been several others of a smaller magnitute. All of them ended when I retracted back into my compulsive eating addiction.
THAT is why, now that I am BACK with a new weight loss goal, I can't say for sure if it will be the FINAL one. I sure hope it is.
I will take all the advice, encouragement and inspiration I can get to finally get over my eating issues. I hope my story will become a success story that will be able to inspire others with their problems. xo.
1.) Lose 50lbs by Septembr of this year!
2.) Gain flexibility
3.) Don't binge, control overeating
Diet outline on a good day:
*whole grain cereal with soy milk
*oatmeal with walnuts & soy milk
*vegetable & egg scramble
*homemade vegetable based soup w/whole grain toast
*rice, vegetables & tofu/other soy protien
*apple w/peanut butter
*general fruits & veggies
*whole grain crackers
1.) Elliptical Trainer 50-60 mins 4-5 X week
2.) Interval walking to and from gym - 2.3 miles total
3.) calisthetics routine (ab work, squats, leg lifts, etc.) - 20ish mins - 2-3 X week
