The Barefoot Sailor

I'm a German major at Princeton starting to feel good about my body and the rest of me as I shimmy, chasse, and otherwise rock and roll and bellydance into my senior year.

July and August will find me at the Jewish Museum in Vienna, Austria!

One of my goals is to be strong enough to be able to take care of my body and keep up my health. This means short-term things, like being able to run so I can work out anywhere, and being aware of what I eat and drink so I know ...

One of my goals is to be strong enough to be able to take care of my body and keep up my health. This means short-term things, like being able to run so I can work out anywhere, and being aware of what I eat and drink so I know when my body needs fuel and hydration, as well as long-term ones, like keeping my weight at a healthy level, maintaining a vegetarian diet, and taking steps to keep my cholesterol low and my risk of developing cancer as low as possible.

To this end, I wear a pedometer and seek out ways to add exercise to my daily life. I read nutritional labels to figure out what gives me the most of what I need without damaging my waistline or my budget. I always have a water bottle with me. I cultivate relationships with like-minded peers, and am not shy about asking my former JROTC boyfriend about what he would suggest I do to get in shape. It's about channeling fear into actions, nervousness into discovery, and negative thoughts into positive deeds.

My Goals:
I'd like to be stronger so I can be a better dancer. I also want to "unleash the stress-relieving powers" of exercise to help keep me sane among the rigors of academia. Now that I feel good on the inside, I want to look good on the outside to match!

My Program:
In addition to bellydancing practices, I've started running (aiming for a 7 minute mile (currently at 9.5) and endurance to run 45 minutes at a stretch) and spend a lot of time on the elliptical trainer.

Hey! Snorkelling was amazing...wish I lived somewhere I could do it all the time! Will defo put some pics up so you can all see the beauty of Australia! :)
Glad to be back home now...and although I missed out on a lot of summer camp...I can't wait for fall camp! get right back into it! are you doing fall camp too?? hope so! :) You're an inspiration!
