My husband and I with our 3 awesome children!
With my "big" sister and best friend
I've been a part of SparkPeople since 2007, but haven't been entirely consistent. We are missionaries who regularly live in remote villages where internet service is a challenge most of the time. I love it when I can connect to Spark People, because it helps me with personal accountability.
I spent most of 2013 in the States helping our youngest son with some of his re-entry adjustments (and my husband travelled back and forth to be with me as much as posible). In spite of some surprise, non-weight-related medical issues, I lost 50 pounds later in the year, which was something of a miracle for me! For the first time in my life, I really didn't have to count points nor calories. I found what worked, was in control of the food I bought, and just followed my routine. It was also the first time that I lost weight without a lot of extra exercise, since I was recovering from back surgery.
The hard truth is that back home in Mexico with the daily routines with my husband, I've gained about half of that back. I'm trying to figure out how to make my routine fit with what he's willing to eat and do. We have finally found an internet service that seems to be more reliable. Let's hope so!
This site remains an encouragement to help me stay on track! As missionaries to Mexico, my biggest obstacles are lack of reliable internet, support, and convenience diet foods. I love the encourgement OI get from SparkPeople. Blessings!

I follow the 17-day diet somewhat. That has been really difficult to do with my husband's food preferences, and I always get worn out when I try to fix everything differently for me. So now I'm trying to find a balance between the two. Spark tracker helps keep me honest. (When I can follow the 17-day plan completely, calorie count is never necessary.)
I'm a wife and mother of 3 adults living in the States and grandmother of one AMAZING grandson! I'm also a small-town, Kansas farm girl who has travelled far but never lost a love for her roots and wholesome values she learned there!
I love to read, bird and butterfly watch, garden, and share Jesus with the precious people of the world. Teaching is my special gifting. Our God is a RESTORATION God--so amazing--so powerful! What a joy to live for Him and have some small part in His Kingdom!

Thanks to all who so warmly welcomed me to the Friendly Persuasion group! This group as at the heart of what I'd wanted to find. Since it's a new group, welcome right back to all of you! I believe 2014 is my year . . . made such great strides in 2013 and ready for my 2014 adventure!

Our WW leader always says, Did you eat better this year than you did before you joined WW? It sounds like you did. Congratulations. I hope that the trip to the ER turned out to be not serious. When I heard other girlfriends talking about all they ate, I cringed because I know I could have done the same thing. We are always teetering on the edge of a binge.

Juniatrome, you're cute! All my "new" things are old things that I'm fitting into again! LOL! Hubby keeps telling me I have too many clothes, and I keep saying, "Doesn't EVERYONE have wardrobes in 3 sizes??!" I can't find anything much down here in my size, but I'm hoping to be down several sizes so I can buy some fun things when we go Stateside in September! Oh, yeah!
