Starting Over

My name is Bill. I regained a lot of weight during the past six months taking care of my wife. Now that my beautiful wife has passed away after a 4-year battle with Amyloidosis, it is time to start taking care of myself. It may be difficult at first because of the grief, but I have to do it!

My Goals:
I want to get to 180 lbs by March 2105. While I can't run very much due to tendon damage after a broken leg, I want to get back in the habit of exercising daily.

My Program:
Eat healthy, watch the portion sizes, and exercise frequently. This formula always works, but it's easier said than done! I've got to find a way to make them habits instead of things that I HAVE to do.

Personal Information:
I live in San Antonio, Texas - an absolutely great place! (except perhaps in July and August...)

Other Information:
I grew up in Texas, but spent 26 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, I worked another 15 years at Brooks AFB, TX as a contractor. I love outdoor activities of all types. I'm currently finishing a vacation cabin at some acreage I have near Rocksprings, TX. This was our "get-away" spot where my wife and I could really enjoy nature.

emoticon Just stopping by with my motivational quote for today by Ella Wheeler Wilcox:

"There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul."

So, determined soul, press on towards your goals! emoticon emoticon emoticon

It really isn't so bad most of the winter. We get enough snow so that we can always go skiing (downhill for some, cross-country for me) or snowshoeing, and there are lots of maintained hiking trails, too. It can get pretty cold, but unless it's windy, you can easily dress for it and get outside.

What I don't understand is how people who live in places where they can go outside all year long ever get any household projects done! January and February are when we paint the hallway and build those bookcases we need. emoticon
