Winter Challenge Goal: By April 20 2013, I want to drop 10.3 pounds (5% of my weight). That will put me at 194.7 pounds.

Although I was doing great initially, my program hit a "snag" when my wife was diagnosed with a terminal disease called Amyloidosis. I gained back 25 pounds in just a few months as neither my diet nor my health were as important any more. As the disease dragged on longer than expected (a good thing), I gained even more weight. I gained back 25 pounds in just a few months as neither my diet nor my health were as important any more. As the disease dragged on longer than expected (a good thing), I gained even more weight. Two and a half years later, I finally started to get serious about losing the weight again. Having to do activities alone is difficult, but I am making progress. I'm exercising regularly again, watching my nutrition, and starting to feel much better! I've got a ways to go, but I'm making progress!

My Goals:
I want to get to 180 lbs within 9 months. While I can't run very much due to tendon damage after a broken leg, I want to get back in the habit of exercising daily.

My Program:
Eat healthy, watch the portion sizes, and exercise frequently. This formula always works, but it's easier said than done! I've got to find a way to make them habits instead of things that I HAVE to do.

Other Information:
I grew up in Texas, but spent 26 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, I worked another 15 years at Brooks AFB, TX as a contractor. I love outdoor activities of all types. My wife and I are currently finishing a vacation cabin at some acreage we have near Rocksprings, TX.

Congratulations on your "win" on the spark wheel! I don't usually use this as my status, but I was so shocked at getting the big one that I had to share - normally, I'm lucky to get into double figures.
Have a fun time at the ranch. Working outside in the fresh air sounds a real treat. We've had sunshine the last few days and everyone seems to be smiling more! It really does make a difference....

emoticon Yes, MN is getting more snow. By the weekend, we may finally get more seasonal weather.

Hope you have a great week!

Ahh, Texas sounds so warm and beautiful. Maybe this summer, my husband and I will visit The Alamo. I've always wanted to see it. Good luck on your weight loss journey. emoticon
