Starting Over

My name is Bill. I regained a lot of weight during the past six months taking care of my wife. Now that my beautiful wife has passed away after a 4-year battle with Amyloidosis, it is time to start taking care of myself. It may be difficult at first because of the grief, but I have to do it!

While I didn't do well with the Winter 5% Challenge, I'm determined to do better on the Spring Challenge. My Goal: I want to drop 11 pounds (5% of my weight) by the end of the challenge. ...

My Goals:
I want to get to 180 lbs by May 2014. While I can't run very much due to tendon damage after a broken leg, I want to get back in the habit of exercising daily.

My Program:
Eat healthy, watch the portion sizes, and exercise frequently. This formula always works, but it's easier said than done! I've got to find a way to make them habits instead of things that I HAVE to do.

Personal Information:
I live in San Antonio, Texas - an absolutely great place! (except perhaps in July and August...)

Other Information:
I grew up in Texas, but spent 26 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, I worked another 15 years at Brooks AFB, TX as a contractor. I love outdoor activities of all types. I'm currently finishing a vacation cabin at some acreage I have near Rocksprings, TX. This was our "get-away" spot where my wife and I could really enjoy nature.

emoticon for visiting my spark page and brightening my day. I am sorry you had a sinus infection that lasted so long and I truly hope you are over it by now. I remember how miserable I felt when I had those in the past. I am sure you really missed the caring touch and care of your wife when you were sick. My weekend with my 17 year old grandson was awesome, and it surely lifted my attitude and spirits.

My inspirational quote for today is by Milton Berle:

“If opportunity doesn’t knock…break down the door.”

Here's hoping that you're breaking down the door and reaching for the stars on your journey to a healthier life. Have a Terrific Tuesday filed with AWESOMENESS! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you Bill. He is born again and wants to be a minister...Pentecost minister at that. He has gone from a boy to a man and it is hard to believe he is even my son...totally different. I'll take it. Praying you are holding up.

LOL! You'll need to clone yourself. Sounds fun. emoticon

PS- edited to add- looked at a map- River Walk is perfect!! We have a neighbor who went there for a sisters reunion and she loved it.

PSS- DUH! Just re-read your spark page and see where you live. I was thinking you lived near New Orleans but I see that it is a bit of a trip when you go there. Sheesh! I was thinking it was nearby.

Oh! I need to look at a map!! I'll see what's near I-10. There's a lot of ground to cover just to Fla and back to NC. We get to spend next year's spring break with the NC grandkids- it's later in April, near Easter time. They have this year's break coming up in a few weeks and they have it all planned out- so we're taking dibs on next year LOL. That's great that you live closer to your grandkids and can see them on a more regular basis. Talk later- S.
