Starting Over

My name is Bill. I regained a lot of weight during the past six months taking care of my wife. Now that my beautiful wife has passed away after a 4-year battle with Amyloidosis, it is time to start taking care of myself. It may be difficult at first because of the grief, but I have to do it!

While I didn't do well with the last 2 challenges, I'm determined to do better on the Summer Challenge. My Goal: I want to drop 11 pounds (5% of my weight) by the end of the challenge. ...

My Goals:
I want to get to 180 lbs by March 2105. While I can't run very much due to tendon damage after a broken leg, I want to get back in the habit of exercising daily.

My Program:
Eat healthy, watch the portion sizes, and exercise frequently. This formula always works, but it's easier said than done! I've got to find a way to make them habits instead of things that I HAVE to do.

Personal Information:
I live in San Antonio, Texas - an absolutely great place! (except perhaps in July and August...)

Other Information:
I grew up in Texas, but spent 26 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, I worked another 15 years at Brooks AFB, TX as a contractor. I love outdoor activities of all types. I'm currently finishing a vacation cabin at some acreage I have near Rocksprings, TX. This was our "get-away" spot where my wife and I could really enjoy nature.

I actually have a SP recipe for no bake choc-peanut-butter protein bars. I'm going to make them today.

emoticon and good morning! Here is my advice for today by James J. Walsh:

“People who laugh actually live longer than those who don’t laugh. Few persons realize that health actually varies according to the amount of laughter.”

So have lots of emoticon today! Enjoy your Wonderful Wednesday! emoticon emoticon

Thanks for commenting on my blog "Feeling Fresh". I have driven through the handle of Texas several times and about 35 years ago DH and I spent time in Texas from San Antonio to Brownsville looking at housing, jobs, and nursing schools. My parents really would have liked us to live there as it would have been closer to them in their retirement, but we just couldn't find the fit we needed.

BTW, I love hearing about all of your travels. We were in NOLA in May 2013 and had so much fun that we are going back there with some friends for a long w/e in Feb. 2015. Our trip this summer to the Black Hills was our second time there and most likely our last. It is a beautiful area especially for motorcycle riding. Last summer we did the upper half of the Great River Road and our last vacation for this year will be doing the lower half along the Mississippi and traveling back home along the Natchez Trace.

Keep Sparking!

Yes, I agree - Lynn is awesome! I see you are re-joining the 5% Challenge in the Fall. Awesome!

I helped my dad for 7 years after my mom passed - the hardest part was his missing her so badly.

Be well, find happiness wherever you can. I married a widower and have been blessed with his company for 29 years now. Not a day passes without me giving thanks for having him in my life.

P.S. .... I am a Spirited Underdog and we will be racing to land the plane before your team - whatever it turns out to be!

huggers,
linda
