Just turned 49! Wow how time flies. Well, I have lost 20 pounds in the last two years and kept it off. My goal is to lose 20 more this year.

The most important note of introduction though is that other than my life long battle with all things sweet and my body's unflattering way of storing them, I have an amazing life, an AWESOME husband, and a God who shows me He loves me everyday!!

SPARK GOAL REMINDERS
Any change to my status quo, no matter how small, takes mental alertness.
If my new goals and new habits aren’t kept top of mind, I can sink back into those old routines without even realizing it.
Some days in my dieting future, it’ll be tough.
I will search desperately for a single reason to close the fridge, a good excuse to lace up those gym shoes. Just something – anything – to get me through the day with my diet and confidence intact.

If I could just bottle up that “first two weeks” freshness, enthusiasm and momentum, and take a swig from that magical bottle whenever I wanted, the temptation to give in or forget wouldn’t be a problem.
To stay consistent long enough to become a creature of healthy habits:
I will surround myself with visual, written and well-placed reminders that steady the course and help me refocus.
I will use positive images and words.

Every day is a chance to build momentum or to slack. Every day, I have to decide to make the right choices. Keeping my goals and motivators close by helps me make that decision and feel good about it. This is a positive experience! I am doing something good for myself, my loved ones and my future. I won't waste any opportunity to remind myself of that fact and congratulate myself on progress.

Unless I really don’t want to lose weight or live a healthy lifestyle! As long as I do want these things, I have all the motivation I need.

I started my weight loss journey on March 21st at 204 lbs. I achieved a huge goal by being under 200 lbs before my Birthday on April 2nd. Finding Sparkpeople on April 16th has been just what I needed to help me be more aware of my eating and exersize habits and to help me set and achieve goal to be further successful in my healthier lifestyle.

    Giving up control is hard but so important. I've learned in my journey that as much control that I think I have, I don't really have. As I learn to give it to God and allow His blessings and control to move (many times through others) the better off I am. He has blessed me with special food connections and supportive friends that made it all possible for me to achieve my goal. He wants us healthy so it is fun to watch Him move. A secret I found is if my time with God each day was a priority and started my day the better choices I made and the healthier I became overall (spiritually, physically and emotionally).
