It is getting easier and easier to make healthier choices, although, I do have days where I just don't eat as healthy as I should. The exercising is definitely getting easier.

I started this journey by taking advantage of the fast break stage. I gave up the soda, cut back on the fried food, and started watching portion sizes. I thought about exercising, but really didn't start doing that until I moved to stage 2.

During stage 2, I started exercising more, and really paying attention to portion sizes, drinking water, and getting more fruits and vegetables. I also started getting involved with the teams that I joined, posting, and getting to know others. I got involved in challenges and have made some really good friends here.

During stage 3, I measured portions, I really started paying attention to labels, and just tried to make good choices in the foods that I was eating. I exercised a lot more, mostly using Walk Away the Pounds, but I did other stuff as well.

I moved to stage 4, and pretty much am continuing to do what I have been doing in stage 3. I have also gotten my best friend involved with SparkPeople, and we work out together a couple of times a week. It makes me more accountable, and I have a lot more fun while we are exercising.

I am not on a diet! I am on a lifestyle change! Saying that, I do not avoid foods, I just enjoy them in moderation. I love hot wings, and decided that I am not going to give them up. I do not eat them every week, but more like once every 3 months. We plan our wing nights in advance, so I know when they are going to be. I plan them into my day. Yes, I will be over calories that day, but I am very aware that I am going to be doing this, and plan it into my week. Same goes with just about every other food that is not good for you. Cake and ice cream, if it is a special occasion, I will have a small piece of cake and a small scoop of ice cream. Life it too short to deny yourself of all the good stuff that you like. But eating these foods is not something that I do everyday. Most days, I do pretty decent with my food.

The people here at SparkPeople are so friendly and encouraging. I want to thank everyone who has touched my experience here. You guys have made me stay accountable and with this program. I am pretty sure that I will be a lifer here on SparkPeople, because this struggle with my weight, will be a lifetime battle that I will continue to win!

My final destination is to be at 160. I did not want to be discouraged before I started by seeing how far I had to go, so I broke it up into smaller, more manageable bites.

My Goals:
would like to be at 225 by Oct 1, 2007--obtained 9/26/07

would like to be at 200 by Jan 31, 2008--obtained 1/22/08

Starting at 208 on 1/1/10

would like to be at 160 by July 2010.

1st short term goal is to be at 199 by Jan 31, 2010. Didn't reach this :(

2nd short term goal is to be at 190 by Mar 31, 2010.

3rd short term goal is to be at 180 by April 30, 2010.

4th short term goal is to be at 170 by May 31, 2010.

5th short term goal is to be at 160 by June 30, 2010. This gets me to my goal early, but I think that it is doable.

My Program:
Going back to basics. They work!

Tracking my food so that I know exactly how many calories I am consuming.

Tracking exercise too so that I know how many calories I am burning.

Joining challenges and getting support from my SP buddies! We are in this together!
