Thank you for the spark goodie and the prayers. I actually have lavender growing in my garden, maybe I'll cut a sprig or two to take with me. Although surprisingly I have calmed down a lot and am no longer stressing about this visitation or funeral. I've decided that I wouldn't want to be friends with any of Tom's family so why should I care if they like me or not. As long as I stay out of the way I'll be fine!
Yes, Tom's family is unusual. They have no boundaries, like everyone is part of the "collective". Margaret (his mom) was the leader, whatever she wanted is what was done. No one seems to be able to think for themselves. Luckily for me, my husband has never fit their mold. And something interesting, he found out he had a 1/2 sister (they share father's) a few years ago. She is 13 years younger than Tom but we met her this summer and the two of them are so alike it's uncanny. They like the same type of movies, activities, and talents and they share the same sense of humor (something I've never understood). He finally found someone he could connect with in his family!
Thanks for the continued prayers. It looks like the funeral may be on Monday - then I think we're going out-of-town for a couple days to recuperate! 7 days ago
