Who says losers can't be winners?

Hello! While always being "bigger" it was only recently that my weight spiked to the "obese" category. That was a wake-up call for me to finally start doing something about it! I've been working out and eating better since January 09. I joined SP to find motivation, tips, and advice, and so far I've found all of the above!

I've been working out and eating better since January 09. I joined SP to find motivation, tips, and advice, and so far I've found all of the above!

2010 Update: I'm in the home stretch of my weight loss goals and am focusing on reaching my fitness goals. I'm working up to a half marathon this May and am trying to get lean and toned for summer. My plan is to wear my first ever bikini!

2011 Update: I hit a bit of a backslide over the past three months, which resulted in a 25 pound gain...ouch. After running my half marathon and wearing my bikini, I felt I deserved a bit of a break. I maybe went a little overboard with that idea, because I completely fell off the wagon. Now I'm back on track again with my goals firmly in place. 2011 is going to be all forward progress!

2012 Update: I did loose weight in 2011. In fact I was looking great at my wedding this past May. The bad news is I've had another 25 pound gain since then...double ouch. You can't keep me down for long, though. I'm back at it and I swear this time it's for good!

My Goals:
-Run a 12k by September! -Reached it 9/5/09!

-Run a half marathon this May. -Crossed the Finish Line 5/30/10!

-Eat more veggies!

-Reach my goal weight in time for warm weather.

-Work out because I want to, not because I have to.

My Program:
I'm learning to love running.

I don't track every calorie, but I always watch portion sizes and try to eat as many fruits and veggies as I can.

Personal Information:
I love trying new foods especially "ethnic" cuisine. Although I'm a picky eater, I'll try anything once!

Lauren, saw your post on the 1/2 marathoners team. Welcome! You mentioned you are looking for tips on training/doing a 1/2 marathon. I have a whole blog series on "surviving the race" that goes from what to wear to what to do after the race. Check them out, maybe you can get some ideas. I'm a 1/2-aholic and am doing #30 in a few weeks, plus I have trained/coached others so I do have a little experience. If you have questions just ask, I've either heard or asked them all.
