Journey to a Balanced, Healthy Life

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I joined SP in August 2011 in an attempt to lose 35 lbs of grad school and newlywed weight. But now I'm less concerned with numbers on the scale and more interested in quality of life.

I suffer from severe endometriosis, which for me equates to daily debilitating pain. Sometimes it's in the morning, sometimes it's in the evening. During workouts and on off days. There's no rhyme or reason, except that it's every single day.

I suffer from severe endometriosis, which for me equates to daily debilitating pain. Sometimes it's in the morning, sometimes it's in the evening. During workouts and on off days. There's no rhyme or reason, except that it's every single day.

After exhausting the few treatment options available, I have decided to eliminate all soy from my diet based on the experiences of other endometriosis sufferers. Even after just a couple of days, the pain is gone! It won't be easy, but it's worth it to not hurt. You can read more about this part of my journey at soy-free.blogspot.com

So I guess now this is more about maintaining a great quality of life while also becoming healthier. I still need to lose 27 pounds - increased fat means worse symptoms because fat cells independently produce estrogen.

But now I'm not hurting, so I feel like eating, and exercising! Praise God!

My Program:
Eat in moderation. I don't believe in making food groups off-limits. Exercise at least 3 times/day. Right now I'm focusing on running and swimming. After my next 5K (December) I'll add lifting to the mix.
