Eat well. Keep moving. Be better.

That is my 6-word success story and goal.

I started SP in July 2009 at about 163 lbs; exactly what I weighed when I was 9 months pregnant, except my son was 3 years old. I had every excuse in the book for not exercising and eating right. I was unhappy, unmotivated and tired. I was in denial too. I would tell myself that I wasn’t overweight. I didn't look that fat. But the scales, the charts and my clothes kept reminding me otherwise.

After many excuses and failed fads and quick fixes, I finally put a plan into action. With the help of SP tools and support, I lost 25 lbs in the first four months, got into my “skinny” jeans, and started running. I work out at home with DVDs, free weights and the treadmill. I also run outside every chance that I get. In 2010 I reached my ultimate weight goal of 130 lbs and successfully maintained it almost a year. Health and fitness is a regular part of my life. Everyday I try to make the best choices that I can. Sure I occasionally slip up (especially with nutrition), but I make up for it and move forward.

INSPIRATION for the PERSPIRATION

"Chose to EDIT what you eat, not DIET your life away." MICHCLEARY

"It's easy to say you're too tired, too stressed, too busy, too this or too that. Too bad. The only way you'll strip away the fat is to start by stripping away the excuses." -- Dr. Oz & Dr. Roizen- "You on A Diet"

Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. - H. Jackson Brown

There are no shortcuts to any place worth going. - Unknown

"When someone tells you that you can't go any farther, just tell them to look behind you and see how far you've come." -- Lorna Pitre

"A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn't will find an excuse." - Stephan Dolley Jr.

"OBSESSED is just a word the LAZY use to describe the DEDICATED." - Russell Warren

“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.” -Kenneth Blanchard

"You don't get to the finish line and quit, that's when you give it your all." Jillian Michaels

"Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up. " Dean Karnazes

"Don't give up on anything you cannot go a day without thinking about." ?

"Hard work beats talents when talent doesn’t work hard!" by Unknown

"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of." Patti Sue Plumer

"Your time or weight can ALWAYS be improved upon but if you don't have the heart, nothing will help you. Nothing is more nauseating than someone who could but won't." ON2VICTORY

"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run."

"Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way. Run often and run long, but never outrun your joy of running." - Julie Isphording

"Runners just do it - they run for the finish line even if someone else has reached it first." - Author Unknown

You will never make anyone happy. Someone will always have something (negative) to say; either you’re too fat or you’re too skinny. But it's not about them it's about YOU. Are you happy with what you’re doing? If yes, then keep going. If no, then take action. But it's no one's decision but your own. – Me!

Typical Running "Shoes"??? I have so many! I've been running in Nike Lunar Lites for a while. Then I switched to KSwiss Kwicky-Blade Lights (LOVE these!) but when my ankle developed Achilles problems, I switched back to the Lunar Lites (because they have a higher heel). I also have a pair of Brooks Pure Cadence which I absolutely love but haven't broken in yet for long distance (They are low profile so you need to get used to them or risk shin problems and no good for my bum ankle). I bought a pair of KSwiss K-Ona but they are crap and I wish I could return them! Same for the Sacouny's which have way too much padding.

Finally, I just got the Newton's. Haven't even gotten to run in them yet!!! I didn't want to try new sneakers just 1 month before the marathon. When I tried them at the Race Expo though (where I bought them), I instantly fell in love. I naturally hit with a mid to fore foot strike and its like these shoes were made for me. You can tell if you aren't hitting in the right spot on the shoe too. I can't wait to start using them more!

I also have two pairs of the Adidas Marathon 3's (the racing flats in my blog today that were black, gray, and teal that I use for lifting/training). Oh and I have Vibrams too.

Hello, my name is Angela and I like shoes. emoticon emoticon
