In 2017 I want to lose at least 25 pounds AND I want to keep it off! I am starting 1.16.17, right after a week of vacation.

I lost 40 pounds by 9.1.16. Then I celebrated with some of the goodies that I hadn't had for eight months. I tried to stop but kept on eating those goodies. I gained back so much that my total for the year was just 23.5 pounds.

January 1, 2016 I started making the effort to lose weight again! I am staying away from sugar and flour almost completely. That eliminates most of the things that I love to pig out on and forces me to eat much healthier.
It seems that as soon as I stopped having sugar and flour I stopped having the insatiable cravings for cookies, candy, ice cream

My hubby got me a Fitbit for Christmas. It is motivating me to walk more everyday. I am determined to beat my step goal everyday!

In 2016 I will weigh in EVERY Wednesday.
I will try to lose every week. It's OK when I don't!

I am enjoying hiking most Weekends with my hubby. We are doing about 2- 8 miles each time. We have explored some amazing places!

I have a chronic bladder condition that sometimes limits my activities. I will not let it stop me!

Veggies have become a much bigger part of my diet and hubby, who does most of our cooking, is on board with this change. He has perfected a yummy garlicky veggie mix that we have most nights with dinner and I have in my lunch the next day. Now I am mixing them in with scrambled eggs too.

I must learn to eat healthier and make permanent changes to my diet.

I am 56, happily married to Tom. We live in Tacoma WA.
We raised 5 terrific (most of the time) kids. Now we are enjoying the freedom of them being grown up.

We rescued an Italian Mastiff in Nov. 2015, we named her Elbe and just love her.

I work as the manager at a distribution center in Kent.

I like to explore, hike, garden and travel.

There are many wonderful hiking trails not far from my home in Tacoma that I visit often.
Tom and I have gone hiking at least once a week for over seven years now.

    I have to drive a ways to find good hiking, but I need to make the effort because you're right about it being good for body and soul. We live in a beatiful part of the world, this Pacific NW.

    I recently let my younger son take the home gym and the punching bag, but still have weights and bars and am in the process of reflooring the room that I was using as a gym. In time I'll find a home gym that suits me better, and I didn't use the heavy bag anyway so don't plan to replace it.

    Plus I like to do yoga to keep my joints from rusting up completely. lol

    I'm with you on the walking insofar as I need to step it up. I think that's where a pedometer really helped me, because once that thing died I started getting lazy about putting in the time to get the miles in.

    I'm gearing up to do some gym work after I've given the increased walking a fair chance. I've been increasing my aerobic activity and haven't lost an ounce in a long while, which is pretty discouraging. Weight training will tend to make me gain a little, but it will trim fat and reduce my overall measurements. That's worth a lot to me, especially since I can't seem to lose weight no matter what I do. The next step after that is to contact a personal trainer and see if s/he can't help me work it out. I've promised to give myself at least a month to see if anything happens, but I also promised myself not to keep putting it off. I can procrastinate better than anyone else I know.

    I hope your plan works for you. I'm thinking that I should aim at some lengthy hikes, myself. Your trekking inspires me to see places that most people don't bother to seek out. I haven't done that in a while. Sure can't hurt. :)

    I guess I'm doing ok with the tracker so far. I find that it registers better when I put in on one of my shoes than it does on other parts. I still miss my pedometer, which was simple and easy to use and gave me info at a glance without having to go online, and it will take some getting used to, but I guess I'm willing to give it an honest effort.

    I know what you mean about learning new technology. People keep telling me I need to get this device or that new program, and I'm reluctant at best. If I had known that my middle and late years would be spent trying to keep up with new developments in the computer age, I would have enrolled in programming courses fresh out of high school.

    I don't know what other trackers work with this site, but they used to advertise FitBit trackers before they got their own, so they might also sync with the system. An email to customer service would probably be helpful in this regard. They may even send you a replacement that works better than the one you got.

    Thanks for the heads up on the Spark Tracker. That explains why I came in from doing farm work for almost an hour and it came up on the screen that I had no workouts of 10 minutes or more. I was either loading bales of hay on the truck or walking behind the truck and throwing hay to cattle for the entire time I was outside. then I went out and walked about a mile while training the dogs, but it credited me with a grand total of 44 minutes of activity at the end of the day and around 3000 steps/1.9 miles.

    Have you tried putting your tracker on another part of your body? I haven't tried a lot of things because I haven't had it long enough to experiment much yet, but have already found that it doesn't count steps at all unless I put it on one of my feet, though it might track steps if placed on a waistband or hip pocket. The center front of my bra was the most convenient and secure, but it didn't register much in the way of activity. Nothing mentioned in the brochure about putting it on a wrist, either.
