Slowly Losing Weight and Getting Healthy

I'm making this a lifestyle change not a diet!

Dieting always leads to NOT dieting which equals gaining it all back. I am done with that!
It took years to develop my bad habits and I expect it will take years to develop my healthier habits.
I am working on it! I will never give up!
I will get down to a normal weight!

In 2013 I will weigh in EVERY Wednesday.
I will try to lose every week. It's OK when I don't!

I am enjoying hiking most Fridays with my hubby. We are doing about 4- 12 miles each time. We have explored some amazing places!

I go to the gym twice a week. Most weeks.

I have a chronic bladder condition that sometimes limits my activities. I will not let it stop me!

Veggies have become a much bigger part of my diet and hubby, who does most of our cooking, is on board with this change. He has perfected a yummy garlicky veggie mix that we have most nights with dinner and I have in my lunch the next day. Now I am mixing them in with scrambled eggs too.

I still struggle with junk food, especially in the evenings. I need to work on that!

Personal Information:
I am 52, happily married to Tom. We live in Tacoma WA.
We raised 5 terrific (most of the time) kids. Now we are enjoying the freedom of them being grown up.

I work as an assistant manager/truck driver at a distribution center in Kent. I get to drive a pretty blue tractor /trailer.

I like to explore, hike, garden and travel.

There are many wonderful hiking trails not far from my home in Tacoma that I visit often.
I also hike at Mount Rainier every chance I get.
Now that fall is here we are hiking around North Bend. We are loving exploring the trails there.

I was "off Sparks" for quite a few months. I gained back 24 0f my 29 pound loss. I am struggling to get going again. My arthritis is getting to me in new places - ankles shoulder , etc. I know if I would be more active it would probably help with the stiffness and aches.

We are busy preparing for an estate/barn/garage sale next month. Right now one can barely walk through our den for all the stuff "waiting". My music students have to make a trail to the piano!

Angela is still in OK. She has had quite a few health problems (on-going, it seems) She received her masters in music last spring. This year she has been teaching 1st grade.

Let's keep in touch.

Ouch...that was not good! I remember my Dad hurting his back when I was a kid, coming off the back of a truck at work. He was hurt so bad he had to crawl out to the car, could hardly stand. He was in traction at first, but when he went to the Chiropractor and got treatments, it helped him the most. To this day, he has minor problems.
No fun when your back hurts. May we both heal well and soon!! Take care and it was good to hear from you! Keep up that hiking! emoticon emoticon

That must have been so painful. That's good your back is healing.
One step at a time I guess. emoticon
