Wendy Doing Life

My name is Wendy and I am a 30 year old mother of two boys looking to finally live the life that I have always wanted and deserved. Growing up I was always the biggest girl out of my friends and ate in an unhealthy way. In high school I played so many sports that no one would have guessed how much food I consumed, but of course it quickly caught up with me during college and now as a stay at home mother of 2.

I love exercising, especially running, which I am slowly getting back into after an injury. I ran a half marathon back in 2007 and I would LOVE to work my way back to running another one - hopefully much faster as I plan on being much lighter!

My Goals:
Overall Weight Goal: Lose 54 pounds by Nov. 21st

1st Mini Goal: Reach 180 by July 15th

Workout Goal: Gym 5 days a week (3-4 running days, 3 lift days, zumba 2 days)

My Program:
I plan to eat every 3 hours - lots of protein, less bad carbs (but I am not anti carb...might die w/o occasional bread!), healthy fats, lots of veggies.

Tracking my food intake and posting where everyone can see has worked in the past - I think this will be key to being successful!

I just wanted to thank you for the comment on my blog- it was so kind and I truly took it to heart.

How is the scale-embargo going?

Thanks for your sweet comment on my status!! I really appreciate it! I'm so glad you like my page and updates... it's fun being really active here on Spark and it always fuels me with motivation and positivity when I'm feeling "blah."

Speaking of... (LOL)... feeling sort of "blah" about how I've made my food/exercise choices this week. I'm struggling with a fine line between CONTENTMENT (happiness in my skin and patterns), and COMPLACENCY (just giving in to mediocrity when I could push myself more). Definitely still a learning process, even after reaching goal weight. There's no end!!

Have a great weekend!
Whit

emoticon Greetings and emoticon

Congrats on taking the next step to reaching a healthier you by getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support.

Please check out the SparkTeams - I think you will find a lot of others 'just like you' there. You can choose SparkTeams by age group, lifestyle or interests, geographic location or several other ways - some of the teams you might like include the Official 10-minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge, Starting Over Weekly Mini-Challenge Team, 10k Steps A Day and Motivation & Positive Attitude Plan but there are so many to choose from, you can have a great time looking for the ones that seem to fit you best! In fact, I suggest joining more than one group, post your intro there and write blogs as often as you can - you will find tons of friends and support that way, I promise!!

In my experience, SparkPeople is like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' so it's good for people wanting to lose weight, maintain a previous loss, get healthier, improve fitness and many other goals - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!

emoticon

If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site.

emoticon

If you haven't already discovered The Spark book and/or the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check them out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once! The FastBreak program is a good way to start.

emoticon

Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I do - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and all the great info! I am looking forward to playing around and figuring Sparkspeople out. Hoping to get some actual pics up soon of me and not my dog! Most of my pics are stuck on my "old" computer (15 months is not old imo) so once I retrieve them, I can actually make my page a little more interesting! Again, thanks so much - can't wait to get into this journey!
