I've struggled with my weight most of my life. In general, I've always been healthy, exercised regularly and was able to maintain my weight, although not at my preferred weight or size. However, my weight started to yo-yo onward & upward in my late 20's with work & graduate school. Now in my 30s, I am finally starting to incorporate both exercise & eating correctly into my lifestyle. So far, counting calories has really made a difference, which I'm not sure I'd be able to do without SparkPeople. Here goes the journey to places I've never been...

Update January 2013: I finished my PhD in August of 2012 (Yeah!) and moved to Vienna, Austria in September to start my new job as a postdoc at the University of Vienna (another yeah!). While I love it here, my first four months have been a bit stressful. New Job. New Language. Setting up my home. Gasp, not really to my surprise (chocolate, wine, cookies) = bigger butt! While I would love to blame the reason my clothes were tight was due to the narrow cut in european pants, I finally had to admit that it was me growing, not my pants shrinking. So, I'm baaaack SparkPeople. Here we go again to get myself back on track.

Fitness Minutes: 41,560

My Goals:
Getting back into shape and fighting form after finishing my PhD and moving to another country.

Current weight: 155 - 160? I don't own a scale (yet), I just know my clothes are TIGHT.

Goal weight: To feel strong (again) & not be so hard on myself

I need to learn to appreciate how far I've come in this process. Although I have recently gained some weight back, my health is still better, I'm stronger, and I still wear 1-2 sizes smaller than I did when I started this journey in 2010.

My Program:
I have struggled to find the exercise program I could manage with my new job and new city. To motivate myself for 2013, I signed up for the Vienna City Half-Marathon. Running with 40,000 other people was so much fun - I completed 2 more half marathons in 2013.

Program: Following the Hal Higdon 12 week intermediate half-marathon training program.

My road bike finally made it to Europe. So I pedal when I can (indoors too with my trainer).

Weight training - push-ups, lunges, & if I find a bouldering gym - aim is to go at least 1X week.

Back to counting calories.

    Thanks for the Goodie! I feel like I've been working really hard on this goal for a while but not really getting anywhere. Sometimes a silly internet "gift" does the trick ;)
