MOST RECENT UPDATE 2/9/15 -- Over the past 5 years, (see below) I have not made much progress. However, I am still learning a lot from my SparkFriends and about myself. I not gained (or if I did, it was temporary) and I have tried new eating and drinking habits. My age and metabolism are working against me. (Only the dates have changed in the past 2 years. In other words, the only thing I have lost is time.)
12/30/10 -- 230# I recently had an embarrassing episode on the airplane when we took our annual vacation. The seatbelt almost didn't fit!!!!! OMG! Talk about a wake-up call! In pictures, I look like Buddha. This week has been a time to make a plan to reach those goals I set almost THREE years ago!
Hi, here I am, still trying to change! Tried everything out there, including gastroplasty over 20 yrs. ago, fen-phen, etc. and still do not have a handle on eating and exercising. Age 61, retired, no kids at home, travel around quite a bit. Had fibromyalgia years ago, but still think there is some residual symptoms. Neuropathy sometimes a problem; have high BP, borderline high cholestrol & diabetes. Slowly getting back to a walking program after knee probs.
To be a healthy weight so I can be more active - and vice versa! Specifically:
weight under 200# by the end of 2015. Well,THAT didn't happen, with a vacation and the holidays. SO now, my goal is 25# in the next 3 months. Exercise 6x a week for at least 45 min.
Lower Fasting Blood Sugar to 100 or less.
Lower Blood Pressure.
Addendum: Lab tests Sept. '10 & '11 were all LOWER! (exc. triglycerides.) Dr. was pleased, as was I, to see that my efforts are showing! Yay for oatmeal!
'15 labs were "OK"
Eating more veggies and fruits, less JUNK, less alcohol. I will pay attention to portions. I pledge to do 30-45 min. of exercise every day! (w/ one day of rest)
Raelene here, living in NW WI, but my heart is in Jamaica! Or anywhere tropical. We have 3 children, 7 grandchildren, no pets. Our goal as a couple is to be there for each other when we are old and gray. Getting there fast!
Totally into music, movies and reading.

I love, love, love my pedicure. My hairstylist is just starting to do them and offered a two for one so I will definitely have another. It has to be before the end of November but that's okay. It still looks fabulous!!!

Thanks for your support and advice on my blog. I always thought Vionics footwear was for people who had low arches which is the opposite for me but I think I am going to check those shoes out.

I'm BACK! What about you? I'm still chubby so don't feel alone if you are not body beautiful yet! We CAN DO THIS!!! I'm just getting going again... don't want to blow up during the holidays...AND, want to feel better ringing in the new year. You with me? Hope to hear from you!

I've had knee surgery in my time away from Spark. I've gained a little more. But.....I will NOT be defeated! I will keep pushing on with encouragement from great folks like yourself!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm glad my folks still have each other though I know it is becoming more difficult for my dad. Conversations are difficult for my stepmother at this point and I think we all know the things she talks about by heart. I think it is still good to have someone.
