2014 Rugged Maniac
2014 Va Tough Mudder
Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
Hey all, My name is MaraLee, I'm 21 and currently living with my parents itching to get out. I'm currently wourking at a martial arts place, doing martial arts and kick boxing to lose weight for the USAF(hopefully).
So this is a new start for me. I use to be on SparkTeens but lost track. I had been on for a year and a half before I stopped, and lost a smidge of weight. Unfortunally I'm back to where I started..... I've decided to switch Facebook for SparkPeople. I'm hoping it will help me get my lazy butt off the computer on on a flippen tredmill.
As you can tell by my name I want to be an Airman. For those who don't know what that it, it's a member of the United States Air Force. My dream is to be a USAF Photographer, it's been my goal since I was 12. But to join any military branch you have to be in shape....so here I am...again...starting from scratch. The weight imit for my height in the AF is 220, so thats my first goal. Eventually I want to go under 200, that would be awesome, but I need to start small.
So here I go! Off to start a new page in my life. :) Wish me luck...truuust me I'll need it.
To join the USAF
Anything to get moving.
Running (hopefully) 3x a week.
Couch25K- My dream is to be able to run a 5K and keep up with my friend (A track runner) then maybe a 10K.
Stregnth training (hopefully) everyday.

Yay for 21! I'm working on my fourth year of being 21 :P
I'm a gym gal. I HATE being out in the cold, so no brisk winter jogs for me. My program is primarily walking at a decent incline with a little bit of running thrown in each week. I'm trying to build up again. I ran for 7 minutes today, so yay! I'm also following a strength training program from sparkpeople using my gym equipment, though I may have been overzealous when I first tried it out; I used the assisted pullup machine and really pushed myself, resulting in the inability to extend my arm the next two days because one of my muscles was too tight. It was a learning experience. Next week, I'm going to start attending a cardio boxing class at my gym. When my feet get used to being active again, I want to start working out twice a day. But for now, baby steps.
How often do you meet with your trainer? Are you a morning or night person?

The decision isn't recent, but the training is, lol. I've been considering joining the military off and on for years, always looking at this same job. I finally decided I am going to go for it back in early October, and after researching every branch, I set my heart on the Air Force. The only reason I haven't talked to a recruiter yet is because I have so much weight to lose. I'm at 263 right now, and I know July sounds ambitious, but I want to enlist and get started so badly! If not July, then August 11 (according to Sparkpeople, that should be my realistic goal to get down to 185 by losing 2.5 pounds a week.)
I started training shortly after making my decision, but then I sprained my ankle pretty badly a little before Thanksgiving. I completely neglected my training/nutrition for the duration of my recovery, stuffing my face with whatever I pleased. New Year's was my reset button, and now I'm back at training. My ankle gave me some trouble the first couple of days, but it's getting used to moving again, lol.

A cryptologic linguist is someone who finds transmissions in a particular foreign language, translates them, and then reports whether there is any noteworthy content in the transmission. I studied Japanese for a couple years, and I really enjoyed it. I assume Japanese isn't in high demand for that particular job since we're like best buds with them, but Korean is VERY similar, and with North Korean tensions, I hope it is something the Air Force will need. I'll learn whatever language is needed though. I'll also do almost any job they need, but I really want to be a linguist.
What are you looking to do in the Air Force? Do you have a date set for when you want to enlist? I think for your height, weight is around 200, but you'll have to look at the requirements chart on their website. What about the 1.5 mile run, pushup, and situp standards? Have you tested yourself on those?
Btw, you have been on a LOT of adventures! Your pictures are awesome!
You should add me as a sparkfriend!

Hey, I'd love to hear about your journey to the USAF. I'm enlisting in July as soon as my weight is acceptable! Btw, how tall are you? I'm 5'9, and I was under the impression that I needed to be 185 or less to enlist.
