your never gonna bring me down

I'm 21 years old, in my last semester of undergrad at WMU. My whole life has not been a struggle with my weight, actually up until recently I was one of those people who could eat whatever I wanted and never gain a pound! When I was around maybe 19 years old, I started noticing the weight I was putting on, was actually showing on my body! It wasn't even that big of a deal, until shortly after my last ex-boyfriend and I broke up, when people would say to me, "Wow Meghan! Have you put on some ...
Have you put on some weight?!" I knew that was the last straw for me. I've always been "afraid" of getting fat as I got older, and now my biggest fear is that it is finally happenning. And it seems to be a trend which runs in my family too, most of my aunts, uncles, even older cousins were very thin growing up, but the older they got, the more the weight they put on started to show, and now they are all considerably overweight. Obviously I am nowhere near being overweight, but I guess as I notice the weight go on, the more I want to kind of head it off at the past. So I'm hoping to lose the weight I've put on now, and hopefully gain some healthier habits so once I reach my goal weight, I can stay at that weight for a long time. I am also hoping that losing this weight and toning my body will give me the self confidence that I've never really had my whole life. I'm extremely self-concious about my body, I never wear things like shorts, skirts, tank tops, and especially never wear bathing suits. During the summer I'm always in jeans and baggy t-shirts. Hopefully getting back into great shape will eliminate that altogether!

Even in the short time since joinging this website, I slacked off big-time, due to stress and such from school and work. But, I vow not to get off track again. It might take my body a couple of days to adjust to the new calorie intake, so slow goings will probably happen at the beginning. But I'm excited and motivated to make the weight I've put on come right back off.

According to this website, my calorie per day allowance is between 1200-1550. And I need to burn 460 calories per week. What I'm thinking I might do as another means of self-motivation, is set up a type of rewards system for myself, everytime I lose smoe weight and reach a certain point. I was partially inspired by what I saw on WMUGRAD's profile, so props to her for this! THANKS! :)

My Goals:
My goal is to lose about 18-20 pounds by the time I graduate from college. I would also hope to tone and flatten my stomach, eliminate my love handles, and tone up my legs.

My Program:
I would like to start working out 2 days a week, doing 90 minutes of cardio. I also will do 100-150 crunches per day, and I am going to start running every morning, starting off at 20 minutes, and increasing the time every 2 weeks.

Hey, Yea I know. Ive been "bad" lately. Trying to watch it all but lately ive been slipping. I need to drop it because my fiance and I are getting married in Dec so I need to be more motivated.... (I bought my dress in a size smaller so I REALLY need to lose it). I would love to get together and work out at the rec sometime. I also work out at FitZone (LOVE IT!) Let me know what days are good for you and we could meet up if you want. It would be nice to have someone to work out with and to help push/push me. Have a GREAT Valentines Day
