Healthy 4 Life

My name is Jennifer and I live in Northern California. I've been a "yo-yo" for practically my whole life. But no more! It's been a long time since I've been on this site! I forgot how much fun this site is. So many tools to use.
I am an avid "Facebooker" too. But I have to learn how to divide my time between here and there.

I'm excited because I've lost over 20 pounds since the end of May- when I started working again and becoming more active. Thanks to my wonderful neighbor, she got me a gym membership for the great gym down the street- 3 pools! And she and I push each other to go work out or we go and work out together. I'm also excited because I've been able to wear some clothes in my closet that I haven't worn in a couple of years- or longer.
I'm looking at my last blogs- wow- over 2 years ago.... where does the time go????

My Goals:
Walking at least 5 days a week for 50 to 80 minutes at a time.
Eat one fruit or vegetable a day.
Curb night time snacking.
Drink more water.

My Program:
I'm meeting my goals by moving more and eating less. And I just read an article in First for Woman- about eating your carbs before Noon- then just eating protein and fruits/vegetables the rest of the day. It is supposed to re-set your body clock to not crave carbs at night- which is a big downfall for me! It also re-sets your serotonin levels to help you feel calmer in the evening.

My name is Jennifer...I'm a native Northern Californian living in the East Bay.
I'm a tv junkie- my favorites are Two & half Men, Nip/Tuck, Fringe, Scrubs, Dexter, Weeds, Californication, Rescue Me and looking forward to The United States of Tara.
The Big C is a great new show on Showtime. I'd also like to add Psych and Royal Pains to the list. Thank goodness for the DVR. Oh- and Memphis Beat.

Hi! It's been a while. I haven't been logging in for over a month now and walking kind of went by the wayside. I kicked myself in the butt and walked an hour yesterday and got out and did a quick two miles this morning. I haven't gained any weight, but I sure am out of shape. With the temps getting warmer I am going to make sure I'm out there every day.

How have you been doing?

2009 started off kind of crappy...I'm hoping things get better quickly. How about you? I've slowed down on my walking due to cold temps however last week was in the 70's so I made the most of it and got out and walked five days. Haven't walked this week yet. I'll have to make it up over the weekend. How are you doing with your walking?
