You're right, you CAN do all things through our Savior who strengthens you. Losing weight is just another area of discipleship... it allows GOD to reign in this area, and to no longer fill a void in our lives with food. Because you are fearfully and wonderfully made, God has a purpose for your life... surrendering your health to Him allows you to better step into that calling and purpose. This journey to being healthy HAS TO BE about more than just food, its most successful when it's about learning a whole healthy lifestyle... In this process, you can find out who you are, Who's you are, and watch His lordship take on a new meaning.
You're right, there are some amazing tools on this site. I use the sparkpoints, daily, as my guide to the site. It provides a checklist of sorts, and I know that I'm learning the tools for a healthier lifestyle along with earning the points. :D
I related to your post about raising your cousins as well, as my husband and I are raising our godsons... it provides some unique situations, for sure. I commend you, in your obedience, in this area.
As one poster said, the sparkteams are really helpful and they provide community and support.
Welcome to the journey, and welcome to sparkpeople.

This website is dedicated to helping people who want a healthier lifestyle including issues with eating healthy and exercising, as well as support forums where we talk about specific issues.

So welcome and enjoy! If you have questions, you can always reach out and send me a SparkMail, or stop by my SparkPage at the link below. We can do this together, with encouragement and support from others, and SparkPeople has really great resources for any kind of workout or condition!

PS - It's never a waste of time to read about someone new! It's exciting that we have one more person that we can help... no matter what is going on, someone on this site will be right there and know exactly what you are giong through. Could I suggest the Fighting Depression with Movement Team? We are a fun bunch of ladies who are able to help each other get through the day. We have a lot of fun and it's nice and calm group. We push each other through struggles with depression and all that comes with it. Look us up and see if you'd like to join. it's where I have gotten the most help!
