Facing the facts...

July 2007
I've gone up and down in weight since I was a teen. Since being married (5 yrs) and having my daughter (she just turned 1) I am at my highest weight ever. I want to accept the fact that losing weight will take work and commitment and won't just happen. I would like to be a good example to my daughter so she will grow up with good eating habits.

12/29 --End of Year Update
188.8 - 168.2
Looking over my intro. I've done pretty good in the last 5 months. ...

188.8 - 168.2
Looking over my intro. I've done pretty good in the last 5 months. I've lost 20 pounds and have so much more of an awareness of how many calories are in the foods we eat. One area I could improve upon though is feeding my daughter healthy foods. I still don't do well with getting in my vegetables. It is more of a planning thing. I will have to strategize about this...

July 25th 2008 (Spark Anniversary!)
Weight 155.2 33.6 pounds released. :o)

A year has gone by... I regret not getting started sooner but at least I did not stay the same or gain more weight which is what would have happened if I had not found Spark. Thanks be to GOD because I know HE led me here!

I'm slacking in the exercise dept but doing much better on my New Year's goal which was to start eating more fruits and vegetables. I'm pretty consistant at getting 5 CUPS of veggies a day. I'm finding that planning is everything though. Recently I have not had time to go to the store and have struggled to find "freggies" to eat.

End of year review: Not a lot happened between July's recap and now. I DID manage to hit the 35 pounds lost goal but that was about it!

Keyword for 2009: INTIMACY (with Christ, Hubby and friends/family)

STARTING OVER: AGAIN!!!
I was supposed to be starting over at the end of January but that didn't happen. Too distracted with life I guess. I remeasured and weighed in today MAY 18th. The ticker shows my start weight for today.

Other Information:
I've had this quote on my page but I'm trying to slim it down so I've moved it down here. I put it on my page early in my spark journey. Before I knew how true it would be!
"Every one who wishes to gain true knowledge must climb the Hill Difficulty alone, and since there is no royal road to the summit, I must zigzag in it my own way. I slip back many times, I fall, I sand still, I run against the edge of hidden obstacles, I lose my temper and find it again and keep it better. I trudge on, I gain a little, I feel encouraged, I get more eager and climb higher and begin to see the widening horizon. Every struggle is a victory. One more effort and I reach the luminous cloud, the blue depths of the sky the uplands of my desire."
Helen Keller in her book "The Story of My Life"

Thanks for the comment on my spark page. I added you to my friend page. Not quite sure how to give my story...I have loved to eat all kinds of food all my life as my parents taught me. They were overweight, large boned people which I inherited. I was a large baby tho did pretty well weight-wise until I married in the 1970's when I became less active tho still eating alot. Now, I am tired of all this weight so trying to learn to make healthier food choices, cut portion size & become more active. I like to walk outdoors & have some videos to use when not nice outside, but need to do it more often. I have high blood pressure so on medicine for that & need to cut my sodium intake. I need to make better choices when grocery shopping. I just became post-menopausel tho still have some symphoms. I have had dental braces for 1 year & 5 months so it is alittle harder to eat raw veggies & fruits. I was laid off from my assembler job 3 months ago & haven't found another job. I have been a Christian since a child & attend an Orthodox Presbyterian Church. I will see about posting into the CR group soon. I am still learing my way around here. Please feel free to ask me questions. questions. Kathie

Hey Girl, Haven't heard from you in a while! How have you been? Thanks for coming by my blog, I really appreciate the suggestions. I realize that no stress is totally not going to happen, but as you said I need to find better ways to deal with it. Some stress is inevitable but how I handle it now isn't good, need to learn a better way to deal with it. I will check into the sites you quoted! emoticon emoticon

No, actually my daughter was diagnosed over the phone from the docs office! They don't want me to bring her in. In fact, they directly told me NOT to bring her in. Apparently anyone with the classic symptoms is assumed to have swine flu. I guess its the only flu going around now. Weird huh?
