Wag the Dog

I have retired from teaching and I am investigating what life is all about in these years beyond work. One of my goals is to be healthy so I can do those things that are important to me. I am convinced that activity is the key and learning new things. I believe in challenging yourself and trying something new even if it is uncomfortable.

I am convinced that activity is the key and learning new things. I believe in challenging yourself and trying something new even if it is uncomfortable.

To 'wag the dog' means to purposely divert attention from what would otherwise be of greater importance, to something else of lesser significance. By doing so, the lesser-significant event is catapulted into the limelight, drowning proper attention to what was originally the more important issue. The expression comes from the saying that 'a dog is smarter than its tail', but if the tail were smarter, then the tail would 'wag the dog'.

Glad to have you back!

I am trying to avoid being diagnosed as a diabetic (I've been insulin resistant for years) so I joined the 8 week challenge. I exercise 6 days a week. 5 strength and PT combined and 3-4 cardio. I'm tracking my food and avoiding sugar etc. I'm on week 5 now and it seems to be helping.
