Wag the Dog

I have retired from teaching and I am investigating what life is all about in these years beyond work. One of my goals is to be healthy so I can do those things that are important to me. I am convinced that activity is the key and learning new things. I believe in challenging yourself and trying something new even if it is uncomfortable.

To 'wag the dog' means to purposely divert attention from what would otherwise be of greater importance, to something else of lesser significance. By doing so, the lesser-significant event is catapulted into the limelight, drowning proper attention to what was originally the more important issue. The expression comes from the saying that 'a dog is smarter than its tail', but if the tail were smarter, then the tail would 'wag the dog'.

Yes, I would recommend reading Dr Braverman, but not necessarily buying it without reading it to see if it applies. I am reading a lot to find source of slow weight loss and fatigue. So far I am going gluten free as one of the 7 foods to avoid by JJ Virgin. emoticon

LookingUp, no I am not familiar with Dr. Braverman's books. I will look them up on Amazon today. Thanks for the tip!

I was reading your other information and wondering if you ever read Dr. Eric Braverman's books on nutrition related to disease.

Most are in our public library - except the new P.A.T.H. manual which is a series of handouts he has given to his patients for years. I have not seen it. emoticon
