I'm Valerie. According to my BMI I am within a healthy range for my height (5'11"). But I have a higher body fat percentage than I would like at this weight. BMI is not always the best gauge for every body type. I want to be smarter, healthier and stronger than that. I hope I can make some friends here and find people to talk to about the whole crazy madness of trying to be good to yourself.

Lately I realize that I am stronger (physically) than I have ever been in my life. I can ...

Lately I realize that I am stronger (physically) than I have ever been in my life. I can even do man push ups - a lot of them. I feel so good, I don't ever want to give this up.

My Goals:
I want my body to look the way I'm picturing it in my head right now ...

My Program:
I try to mix it up. Dorky though it may be, I like workout videos... a lot. No one else (besides my mom) does them and my friends make fun of me. I also run (well, jog, about a 10 minute mile) and lift weights. I have a workout room in my apartment - the extra rent for that is the great splurge in my life.

Personal Information:
I'm from Washington State, living in the Northeast for now. I'm tall and I have big feet (one is size 11, the other is 10). I actually get along with my mother and my cat can play fetch. I like to read, but don't get to do it enough.

Hey there! Thank you for commenting on my blog. I am always blown away to discover that someone reads something I've written on here, ha ha. Sooo you're a fellow tall girl, eh? I'm 5'10" and I love it. I wish I was 5'11"! :) I am finally at a "normal" BMI myself, but while that is great, I am striving to lose more weight and get to that magic number that I have in my head.

I LOVE that you can do man-pushups! I can still only manage half-a**ed girl ones, but hey, there was a time when I couldn't even do those! It's all about improving upon what you can do, and that is what I'm doing. ;)

Have a gorgeous weekend! I wish you focus, peace and strength in your journey.
Anna

Hey Valerie! I enjoyed reading your response on the message boards about the first workout you ever did. I also have Firm Vols. 1 & 2. I almost never do them now, but I'm not about to part with 'em. Too many fun memories. Insanity sure is a step (or a thousand!) above that, isn't it?

You're lucky to have a mom who shares your interest. Unfortunately, there is no one in my personal life who understands or appreciates my love of fitness workouts. They have no idea how challenging they can be. I'd love to lock them in a room with a step and any of Cathe's IMAXes and then see what they think. emoticon

Have you ever heard of videofitness.com? It's a terrific community of people just like us. They have an active forum and lots of great discussions about the latest exercise dvds.

Good luck with Insanity. I haven't had the courage yet to attempt that series. emoticon
