In the Spring of 2009 I decided that I need to stop putting it off and just do it! Do it meaning get serious about taking better care of myself. I was seriously overweight, out of shape and even tying my shoes I found myself out of breath just bending over...ugh. My cholesterol was over what it should be and while my BP wasn't high it was higher then it used to be.

Being a Howard Stern fan, I had been hearing Robin Quivers talk for some time about how great she'd been feeling since her MV Detox, so first I embarked on a 21 day Martha Vineyard Detox in
April 2009. I completed that and lost 20 lbs. Boy did that leave me feeling great!

During the 3rd week of the detox I found a really great doctor and started taking Bioidentical Hormones.

At that same time I started the Couch to 5K running program. (I actually did the detox 3x in 2009, and plan on doing it again in 2010.)

I next went and had a pap smear and mammogram, which I'd been putting off for years. What was I thinking waiting so long!

I feel the best now than I've felt in over 10 years. I feel like such a jerk for waiting so long to get my butt in gear.

I owe it to my DH and wonderful doggies to take care of myself so that I can take care of them.

My Goals:
Short term, I'd like to bike my birthday. I'll be 58 in August 2010. I'm up to 45 and should get to 58 the week before my birthday. Longer term I'd like to do a century by the end of the year.

To run a half marathon by the end of 2010. I'd love to do the whole thing at a 12 min pace but just to finish will be a good start.

Grow more of my own veggies, since I eat more when I know I grew them.

Get 7 hours of sleep a night. (why is that so hard for me anyway?)

Try and be the kind of person my dogs think I am.

Lastly...Stop procrastinating!


My Program:
Just finished the MV Detox program for the 3rd time this year, (9/09) now I am back on the ABS Diet.
In an effort to improve my running I got an online coach in May 2010, and am now running every other day. It helps me to have to be accountable to someone!
The off days I cycle, with 2 15 mi rides and the 3rd ride on Sundays is my long ride. I'm increasing that 10% per week and am now up to a 45 mile ride. I throw a few strength exercises such as push ups, squats, lunges and some stretching in for good measure. I'd like to do more weight training but just can't seem to find the time, with all the cycling and running, and my job 6 days a week and of course the dogs and my wonderfully understanding hubs Roger.

Originally from Bayonne, NJ, I've been in SW Fla since 1976.

DH and I just celebrated our 35th Anniversary June 2010.

I work as a Mail Contractor 6 days a week. Leaving me little time for running races.

Breeding, and showing Toy Poodles, such joy they bring to my life!

Vegetable gardening.

Cooking... I try to make everything from scratch. Including all my own breads and pastas sauces and salad dressings. I have the Iron Chef to thank for me wanting to delve in pasta making.
