Thomas' Healthy Journey

I’m ready to make some changes in my lifestyle to get in shape and lose weight.

I've come a long way in the last 10 years. About 10 years ago I was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread. I had two surgeries; one was a major abdominal surgery to remove the tumors and the lymph nodes from my abdomen. That was a very tough surgery with a long recovery. I've come a long way in the last 10 years. About 10 years ago I was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread. I had two surgeries; one was a major abdominal surgery to remove the tumors and the lymph nodes from my abdomen. That was a very tough surgery with a long recovery. That was followed by intense chemotherapy. I was in remission for 5 years and, just when I had cleared the 5-year mark, another tumor sprang-up in my abdomen in a node they had missed.

I had to repeat the entire thing again--surgery then even more intense chemo. It was a horrible experience.

I am almost 5 years out and everything looks good. Am keeping my fingers crossed that they got it all. It is very rare for someone to survive this long when cancer reoccurs.

When I got out of chemotherapy, I started gaining weight like crazy--a result of the large amounts of steroids and the fact that I love to eat and drink wine.

Now I'm ready to leave all this bad health behind me, lose all this weight, get in shape, and start really living again. Spark and the people here have had a lot with my ability to continue this process. Feel free to friend me up, drop me a message, and keep an eye on me please—I need it.

Hi Thomas,

Belle's update :)

Her appt. went VERY well. Her knees are perfectly fine (YEAH) and her hips show a bit of arth. and inflammation. That is why she was limping. He said, most likely it was caused by me having her run down the lake in Nov. It was too much for her and she just kept irritating it over and over.

I told him that I gave her the Bufferin last week for 5 days, plus a moist heating pad a few times a day and she has been fine since. He said for me to use the same protocol if this should happen in the future.

The only thing he did say was for me NOT to have her run down the lake anymore. He said it's too much for her. Playtime in the yard is fine, but not to go crazy with her and we can continue on our walks, making them longer as we move forward, slowly to start.

Also, the same----lose weight. She didn't lose a pound accordingly to his scale, but I take her this Friday for a WI at her Vets. So I'm praying for some kind of loss.

Geez....puppy like mother here in this house!

All in all I'm soo....happy and my stress level has gone down to practically nothing! I can actually breath now! I've been worried about her for almost 3 months and it sure feels GREAT knowing that her knees are perfectly fine, no ligament or tendon damage from the run in Nov., also that the knee surgeries she had done are fine and showing no signs if wear or tear.

HUGE sigh of relief here and a HUGE smile to follow :)

"Thank You" for your "Thoughts and Prayers" :) all were received :)

(((((HUGS)))))
