....::::not alone, that is, in our JOURNEY to living healthy lifestyles. My journey is all about - the Spark of Jesus.
He motivates me to be Fit, to eat Wisely and to Enjoy this Lifestyle!! I feel so "Alive"!! ....and whole. Maintaining relationships with other Sparkers has been such a source a encouragement for me...::::to journey in the company of other like minded Sparkers is empowering.

What a ...:::GIFT:::.... it is just to "move"! What a Fantastic Lifestyle I've discovered through Spark People!! ...::::Thank you SP!

My name is Laura....and I CrAvE this Lifestyle of Health & Fitness! ...but it hasn't always been this way....70 # ago. However, I have maintained my loss for ONE YEAR now!

GOAL: August 22, 2008: begin weight loss journey...lose 60# slowly...take it 1 day at a time.

GOAL MET: November 2009 - lost 60#, and 51 inches down!

GOAL: Maintain 60# loss, and increase strength endurance, lose inches too...(my FAV kind of loss!)

GOAL MET: November 2010 - I have maintained my 60# loss, an additional 12 inches GONE!! & I'm CRAVING Strength training and cardio!!!, ...this healthy lifestyle is MY LIFESTYLE now!! I own it!

GOAL: June 2012 - Due to a motorist accident, I gained 8# and lost time during the recovery period....I need to regain strength, endurance and ideal weight....once again!

GOAL MET: October 2012 Made my goal!! ...and even better than before! ...and now 3# away from my FINAL GOAL!

GOAL MET: November 2012 I reached my Final Goal!! ..::::65# gone Forever! Now to maintain:::...my range weight is 140-145....gives me a 22 BMI.

GOAL MET: June 2013 I reached another goal...::my body fat is now 21%!

SETBACK: February 2014 I developed plantar fasciitis, and had to STOP all fitness for a few months....being sedentary was a sort of prison for me. Then we moved (HUGE life change for my family of 6)...time flew through house remodeling and needing to stay off of my foot - hence 23# gained thru it all.

GOAL: Currently as of June 2015...I'm taking one day at a time and claiming my health...once again. Weight loss through staying on track and implementing those healthy lifestyle habits. One Day At A Time...I Can Do This.

...::Major on the fellowship; minor on the food. "Food is simply fuel."
...::Keep a Fit Lifestyle...when life becomes extra busy, ADAPT and carve out time for fitness - even while shopping...Lol. "Fitness is a state of mind."
...::I have adopted several favorite weekly full body cardio/strength training routines that I LOVE 6 days/week. These workouts always keep me challenged! There are always options to change things up and increase challenge levels....all is so versatile & effective!

...::I live in central Texas, am married to my best friend, and mother of 4 beautiful blessings whom I home school. I also enjoy teaching young cellists to master their abilities and make musical progress.

    If you are like me and have had or raised children. Then you know that our kids look to us to set examples for them to follow.

    It isn't always easy to do. Especially when it comes to what we eat and fitting in exercise. Most of us lead busy lives and sometimes it isn't easy to fit in regular exercise, but unless you make it a priority, you are risking your child becoming a couch potato and junk food junkie.

    So where do we start. We start by taking them shopping with us and teaching them to pick out healthy whole grains, fruit, vegetables and lean meats, poultry or fish.

    I have always tried to make my sons part of the process even in the kitchen. When it comes to handling the food that is just as important as knowing how to pick it out if we want it to remain healthy enough to eat. That is why wash, rinse and sanitize is such an important fact to remember when it comes to food prep and handling.

    After the shopping is done and everything is put away. Dinner is over with, we have the choice of sitting in front of the tv or going to our rooms and playing video games. Not in my house. We would go for a walk, bike ride or often a hike across the canal in the woods around Peanut Lake. The boys to this day are still very active and even belong to gyms. I am so proud that they take an active roll in their relationships as adults in meal planning and exercise.

    Remember that also snack planning is just as important. Not just for the children, but for those of us that want to eat healthy. We can prepare our snacks ahead of time and have them ready to go in a snack bag. This makes snacking healthier and convenient.
