Low-carb some more ^_^

I have been a type 2 diabetic for 5 years now and because of researching ways to improve my own health within the past year, I have developed a very strong interest in Health & Medicine. Apart from my interests in Health, I am a creative creature and have been for as long as I can remember. I paint, craft and compose music ;) I will be studying my first year in nursing in 2013. I have just been blessed with the news that I made it into nursing school so Im over the moon. My long term goal is to become a nurse practitioner specializing in either diabetes or mental health. I created a Sparkpage to use as a tool to better manage my health, to be around others who are going through similar things & to offer my support. My low-carb lifestyle begins today which is desperately needed for tight blood sugar control & weight loss before Uni starts. I was able to achieve an HbA1c of 5.4 (36 mmol/mol) after 3 months on low carb, & a 12kg weight loss within 5 weeks of low carbing + P90X, so I am aiming for those HbA1c numbers again and to get within my healthy weight range in 2013. As far as exercise goes, I am aiming for only 1-2 strength training sessions per week as recommended by the low carb community. I will try it for a month & if I see no results, I'll switch it up. Wish me luck! /waves!

My Goals:
* Begin the Low-carb diet 28/11/12 * Focus more on Strength training * To lose at least 10kgs by 10/Feb/2013, one day before Uni begins. * Gain tight blood sugar control with diet and exercise. I want to remove or reduce my meds as well. Fasting glucose goal: 5.6 mmol/l or under * Continue to achieve good HbA1c results. Last blood test was 5.4 (36 mmol/mol)
My Program:
* Low carb diet * Drink lots of water * Vigorous strength training twice p/wk * Weigh in once p/wk (Wednesday) & measurements once p/month. * Review goals & targets once per month due to weight loss/gain.
