You have to eat to live, but I don't believe that food should be mere sustenance. Food should be a pleasure to eat as well as healthful. I love to travel, and I don't buy designer bags or clothes - I enjoy regional cuisine and adventure! I want to be able to enjoy food, explore the countryside and be healthy doing it.
Low grain/starch and exercise.
- Home cooked meals. One dining out option per week.
- 90g protein minimum
- 80g carbs maximum
- Clean eating - high quality vegetables, protein and fruits
- Minimal processed foods
- Low to no sugars
- Low glycemic fruits
- Occasional breads or starches, if desired.
- Sweet treat rarely.
- One glass of wine, if desired
- 30mins light to moderate exercise 4x per week
- 2 hours extended exercise on weekend (hiking, biking, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, etc)

Today, I did 2 sessions of strength training, and walked am and pm, for a total of 3.33 miles. I feel exhilariting and quite strong. Walking is the only thing that makes me lose belly fat and strength training prevents osteoporosis and makes me feel powerful. Let's see if tomorrow I finally do the aerobic part

This healthcare is so frustrating to me - especially when the doctors don't really help you anyway. Last winter my primary doctor sent me to a gastroenterologist who gave me a piece of paper of what foods I could eat and what foods might be causing me a problem. I could have gotten THAT off the internet. She had blood drawn to rule out something which I didn't have. I went back a month later, I was doing slightly better - she said great! So all on my own I have been ruling out foods, testing my thoughts about things, and finding answers for myself. I'm not as diligent as you are but I'm balancing what I eat with how I feel and staying away from some things!
But I appreciate your support. I feel a little bit deflated tonight - good thing tomorrow is another day, right! Are you traveling? If so, is it for work? I hope things are going well!

Yes, it's a long weekend here in Canada too. I am sooooo delighted to be off from work! I have a temporary position at work and I didn't have any paid vacation this year so I didn't take long. Still, it feels amazing to not think about work for so long and to enjoy myself, and to bike, and walk, and see friends!
We don't get much storms in Quebec but we do get -45 C in the winter, I guess it's all the same; a pain in the a**!

I know that there are a lot of people out there who are having more difficulties than me, but when they all come at once it really frustrates me. Today is starting out to be a much better day and I'm planning on it staying that way. And yes, I did get to go out for dinner at my favorite little place - I've been going there for over 30 years, it always picks up my spirit! It's probably not the healthiest food in town but Tom and I usually share a meal and we still take home leftovers!
