My Goals:
You have to eat to live, but I don't believe that food should be mere sustenance. Food should be a pleasure to eat as well as healthful. I love to travel, and I don't buy designer bags or clothes - I enjoy regional cuisine and adventure! I want to be able to enjoy food, explore the countryside and be healthy doing it.


My Program:
Low grain/starch and exercise.

- Home cooked meals. One dining out option per week.
- 90g protein minimum
- 80g carbs maximum
- Clean eating - high quality vegetables, protein and fruits
- Minimal processed foods
- Low to no sugars
- Low glycemic fruits
- Occasional breads or starches, if desired.
- Sweet treat rarely.
- One glass of wine, if desired
- 30mins light to moderate exercise 4x per week
- 2 hours extended exercise on weekend (hiking, biking, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, etc)

    Donuts! My boss brings them every Friday. I come in at 8:30 which is a blessing because my favorite Maple Bar is usually gone by then and the temptation for the others isn't there! Sometimes I just smell them though, lol.

    I ate 4 cookies yesterday. Today I had 1 and took the rest to the main office. 1 is more than enough. But I consider this success because I was able to have 1 and walk away without binge eating it.

    Did you do your Pilates class? Did you like it? I have a pilates machine at home that I really like but haven't used it in awhile. I should!

    Thanks for your comment - I think I started to freak out when my husband said "I'd NEVER spend that kind of money to go to Norway." Yet he's been after me for months to buy a drum set - and I think "What the heck does he need THAT for?" But the idea has settled now and I am going to take some time to research what we should see while we're there. Colin wants this to be MY trip and that is very sweet of him.

    Yes, that pole needs to be taken down. I asked last summer because I was getting more and more nervous about backing out of the driveway. BUT other things were priority back then - I guess now it's risen on the priority list!

    We finally have a string of warmer weather. It was in the 40's today, the snow is melting and Daisy and I sat outside for a good 15 minutes. I was reading, she was sniffing. I'm hesitant to take her for a walk because early in December I did something to my right knee and I am still not walking good. For about 3 weeks I could barely put any weight on that leg. I went back to the doctors and they strongly suggested a cortisone shot - which helped my knee but gave me a headache for 4 days. The inflammation has gone away and I can do the stationary bike and my yoga now, but I can't walk very well. On Saturday I'm going to the physical therapist, she has helped me before so I'm hoping she can give me some good exercises that will strengthen the right parts of my leg.

    Congratulations on selling your house. It's so good that the housing market has improved. Now you can relax and find a place that you love.

    I didn't realize the you were working remotely. When I was working a lot of us worked from home because we worked with people from all over. But I do remember going into the office occasionally and there were always donuts, or someone went out and bought cupcakes, or someone brought in girl scout cookies - it was hard to resist that temptation!

    I love yoga - it's calming and not so hard on the body. The poses can be challenging sometimes but if I set my mind to it, I can usually do them.
