Hi! I have two boys ages 11 and 16, have a wonderful husband, and put together the weekly newsletter together for my church.

About My Family:

My nickname says it. VelvetNoise is an acromym for I Love Steven. I met him in 1989 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I was in a crosswalk, and he was in a truck with his army buddies crusing the streets. I guess they were trying to pick up girls :) His buddy asked my girlfriend and I if we wanted to go get something to eat. We said NO. we had just come out of a resturant and was heading to a bar. We told them "where to go" and they showed up 10 minutes later where we were. LOL. I guess they watched us go into the bar and decided to try again. My friend danced with the guys, and I sat at the table with Steven (he was the oldest) and just talked. I was kind of sick from the dinner, so I kept saying no. I finally agreed to a slow dance and we had our first kiss that night on the dance floor. After that, we had a long distance relationship, I sent a lot of letters, never received any back, and went on 3 dates. Then he dumped me. Atleast that is what I tell people. I just never heard from him again.

I married the next guy that came around, and he married the next girl that came around. He was married 10 days to her (she didn't want to leave her mom, and he was transferred to CA). I had 2 kids and 9 years later divorced my cheating husband. during that time, I steadly gained 50lbs.

In April 2002, I was engaged to a man much older than myself when I got a message from one of my parents employees that a guy I dated named Steven who was in the Army called. He just wanted to see how I was doing and wondered if I would call him. I did as soon as I got the message, which was an hour after it was received. I guess that tells you how happy I was with my engagement. :) I kind of put him off, because of the kids thinking there may be a problem that I had kids (which was the case in a lot of guys I dated). Oh, and I was also embarrassed about my weight gain. I was 143lbs when we met. Well, it wasn't a problem, and he got tired of me putting him off, and showed up on my door step one morning at 6am. I've loved him ever since, and we were married May 10, 2003, 13 years after our inital meeting. Since that day, I've gained 30 more lbs. Isn't that what you would call "happy weight"?

My older son Ian will be 16 in April. Loves to read about military, is intersted in anima, ghosts and the paranormal (my fault, like I said, my husband thinks I am a sci fi freak). He plays the trumpet in the marching band and loves it.

Craig is 11 and loves to read, and write stories, and actually likes to play outside with his friends, believe it or not. I think all the parents in our neighborhood have it right. Send the kids out to get fresh air. Course the NON parents don't like it much, but what can they do? ban kids from playing outside?

I work as a high school custodian. Actually I work at my son's high school. I get to see him before he goes home and tell him to do some laundry every day. Of course, he never does any. As a custodian, I am always on my feet and by the time I leave, I am walking as if I am about 40 years older than I really am. That's how much it hurts. Why do I do this job? I'm paid a lot better than I would be if I worked for Wal-mart. Actually I was hired at both places at the same time. I was offered 8.35 to start at Wal-mart, and 10.70 at the School. Benefits were a lot better and I have every weekend off.

I used to love to go camping and hiking. Now I don't even like walking around my neighborhood. Maybe it is becasue it is cold outside. My husband loves to go to "camp Marriott" LOL I need to him back to nature.

Thanks for dropping by. All the encouragement I have received is amazing. My husband right now is a "stay at home dad" (We decided together that he really needs to finish his college degree soon, and can't do that while working full time and taking care of the kids in the evenings full time) and since I have just started my diet, there isn't yet a lot of healthy choices in the house. I bought 3 days worth of healthy stuff, but really don't have the room yet to put more. my husband would rather run to the fast food then cook for them. I may have to just go through the cupbords and donate the stuff he bought I can't eat to the food pantry and make all of them start eating the good stuff
