I am safety director for a heavy construction/mining/trucking company, a vegetarian, an animal lover and outdoors adventurer. In the past I was a firefighter/paramedic for 12 years and owned a coffee roasting company for another 10. In my pursuit of staying in shape I became certified as a personal trainer through the American council on Exercise (ACE) and worked for a couple of years at Gold's Gym helping people work towards their fitness and weight loss goals.
My other outdoor hobbies include, Snowboarding, Snow Shoeing, mountain biking, backpacking and bird watching.
My goal is to add about 5 Pounds of muscle and to lose about 5 pounds of fat. .
I go to the gym to lift weights, my goal is 3 days a week. I've just started, "insanity" workout and my goal there is 6 days a week. The program is so tough, it will take a while before I can keep up. Wish me luck :)
I live in Bend, Oregon which is right in the middle of the state. The Cascade mountains are 10,000 Ft tall on the west side of town and the high desert takes off to the east. I am blessed to live in the center of almost every type of outdoor recreation you can imagine.

Hi. I am in Texas, not Bend but I know there is a walking club in your area if you are interested in participating in local events on a regular basis. I do similar walks every weekend. We are not "fund raising" clubs, we are for fun, fitness and fellowship. Our clubs are family oriented and most events are baby stroller, and pet friendly. Our object is to keep a record book and collect a stamp for each event that we do. I've done over a 1000 of the 10K events in Texas and in 46 other states. Here is the information on your local club:
Club Name: Ponderosa Pathfinders
Address: 110 SE 3rd AVE
City: Battle Ground
Contact: Becky Forsythe
Phone: (360) 281-8429

Gees, if I took any longer to welcome you to the team you could have planted, harvested, roasted, & ground a years worth of coffee.
Anyhow, I can see you have put the SparkyTools & SparkySupport to good use. Your ticker is looking fantastic. Keep it up, buddy.
Welcome fellow Junkie--Cyndi

It's nice to meet another Bend/Redmond person! You should try the geocaching. We have incredible ones around here. It's a great way to find all the caves.
You have my absolute favorite dog. A red Healer. I've had many healers over the years. Blessings on your goals. Have a great ski season. Have you been up yet? I heard it was pretty rocky at thanksgiving.

Hi Don, Welcome to Veggie fitness & nutrition. I've been vegan since 1977, mostly raw for the past couple of years. My son is snowboarding as I type, although I didn't go up with them this weekend. Living in Colorado, we get season passes and wear out paths going up almost every weekend. I have to admit I generally snow shoe while they snow board. I'm a skier and never caught the snow board bug like they have. My sister raises Blue Heelers. She wanted to give me one for a present but with nine parrots, I was certain that would not be a good mix. Still, they are wonderful, intelligent dogs.
