Eating consciously, with compassion, and getting skinny, too!

First, I read Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer.
Then, The China Study by Thomas M.Campbell II. Colleen Patrick-Goudreau's The 30-Day Vegan Challenge, quickly followed. After reading these books, my view on food, where our food comes from, our health, and the myriad of misconceptions about nutrition are forever changed. My Goals:
1. All meals vegan and/or vegetarian.
2. Exercise 6x/week.
3. Lose 1 pound/week.

My Program:
1. Eat from the four vegan food groups: vegetables, fruit, grains, and legumes.
2. Intention, not perfection!
3. Incorporate cardio (high intensity interval training), strength training, and hot yoga into my exercise routine.
4. Weigh myself once a week, and keep record of weight change every Wednesday.

Personal Information:
I have been an on-again, off-again vegetarian for most of my life. After much soul searching and too much reading, I have decided to attempt a strictly vegan diet. This transition will be very challenging for me, but one I feel compelled to conquer and achieve .

Other Information:
I have learned that there is no secret to weight loss. Whether you choose to eat meat or not, whether you choose a low carb diet or a high carb one, all the studies prove that weight loss comes down to one simple equation:
Fewer calories in - Greater calories out =
Weight Loss Success!

You are right! Our stories are very similar! Even weight loss goals. I am doing the 21-Day Vegan Kickstart starting tomorrow too. emoticon I just picked up the groceries. It will be the fourth time I've done it. It is so easy when the recipes and menus are laid out for you. I am going to read that book by Kathy Freston you mentioned in your intro. The China Study was excellent too wasn't it?
