Hi! My name is Tammy Polen Manocchio. Welcome to my Sparkpage! ***Moved over to Babyfit.com as I recently found out I am going to be blessed. If you want to say Hi over there my ID is vanyelmoon1. I want to share how I came to realize it was time to get healthy, and become the person I dreamed I could be. I was sitting in my doctors office after having my 2nd knee surgery. My doctor looked at me and said, " You know, you're knee would heal much faster if you were not overweight." I know most of you would have been outraged someone you paid to see would say something like that to you. But it was exactly what I needed to hear. Before, I had never thought of myself as overweight. I needed someone on the outside to point it out to me. I knew I spent way too many nights sitting on the couch in front of the television.I also knew I had no energy, but I never thought of myself as fat or lazy. That moment in time was an epiphany for me. I went home feeling sad, but when I sat down and thought about it, I realized how limited my life was. I decided to work on becoming a healthier person. I focused on my diet first. I made small goals such as eating more fruits and vegetables, and limiting processed junk food. I began to walk on my lunch breaks. Once my knee healed, I included working out at a gym on a regular basis. When I reached a goal, I made another. The more I accomplished, the higher I wanted to reach. In no time, I had lost 20 lbs, then 40 lbs. I have competed in NPC bikini contests and entered and placed third in my first ever figure contest at the Dayana Cadeau Classic in October 2010. It was a tough journey but worth it! Losing weight and getting healthy has to be a conscious decision you make for yourself. No one else can take this journey for you. If you decide to change for someone else, it simply won't work. Concentrate on becoming healthy and the rest will follow. You will become the person you dreamed you could be. My life is an incredible and rewarding journey and I hope I inspire you to take the first step. You can do this! I have a blog on healthy and sustainable living which you can follow at http://www.healthysustainablelivingtoday.c om I can also be found on facebook and twitter under Tammy Manocchio. ********************* "We are what we repeatedly do. My Goals:
WHERE I WANT TO BE: Right now I am focused on maintaining a healthy weight and body fat percentage in the hopes to start a family soon :) I am currently eating a flexitarian diet (mostly vegetable with limited amimal proteins, mainly fish and eggs). I train four days a week. My current weight training split is upper body/lower body using circuit training . Once I have a baby, my next goal is to be on the stage competiting again by April 2013.
My Program:
Strength training circuits are my current M.O. I usally set up six exercises and run through the circuit 3-4 times with minimal rest between sets. In one workout session I will do at least 3 of these circuits for a total of 18 different exercises. I find this burns the most calories and keeps me from getting bored because I can switch up the exercises at every workout. I hate cardio machines! I also run health trails and do a bootcamp workout once a week at the beach for additional cardio.
Personal Information:
I'm 35 years old, 5' 9" married to a wonderful man. I have not been blessed with a child, yet. Music: The Cure, Depeche Mode, Fiona Apple, Shakira, Mideaval Babes, Concrete Blonde, Lorena Mckennet, U2, Love Spit Love, Icehouse, Queen, Robert Palmer, Peter Murphy, David Bowie. Can you tell I love the 80's? :)
Other Information:
I run a blog on green living which can be found at www.healthysustaianablelivingtoday.com I post my healthy vegetarian recipes there weekly.
