I have multiple sclerosis, which makes it hard for me to get much exercise and harder for me to lose weight than it would otherwise be.

My first husband died in 2000 and I was unable to eat much for a couple of months. I lost 50 pounds (the wrong way) but then when I was able to eat again I gained 75! I remarried in 2003 and recently divorced, which is why I switched from the photo of me with ex hubby on our wedding day to the pic of the kitten in the little box of sadness. I'm not ...

I remarried in 2003 and recently divorced, which is why I switched from the photo of me with ex hubby on our wedding day to the pic of the kitten in the little box of sadness. I'm not really that sad anymore, just thought that pic was cute and appropriate.

I quit smoking in December of 2006 and immediately gained 30 more pounds. I would still encourage anyone with MS to quit smoking because smoking has been found to be strongly linked to MS progression. I would encourage anyone to quit smoking just because it's really bad for you, but especially MS patients who want to keep from needing to be in a wheelchair.

I want to lose 70 or 80 pounds. I think that this will help me in a lot of health related areas, including helping me to sleep better and taking some pressure off of my messed up knees. I'm also hoping that it will help improve my MS situation.

May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope;
The spirit of Christmas which is peace;
The heart of Christmas which is love.
~Ada V. Hendricks

Recipe for Christmas All Year Long

Take a heap of child-like wonder
That opens up our eyes
To the unexpected gifts in life—
Each day a sweet surprise.

Mix in fond appreciation
For the people whom we know;
Like festive Christmas candles,
Each one has a special glow.

Add some giggles and some laughter,
A dash of Christmas food,
(Amazing how a piece of pie
Improves our attitude!)

Stir it all with human kindness;
Wrap it up in love and peace,
Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease.

If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember
To be in the Christmas spirit,
Even when it's not December.

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” - Maya Angelou

One minute makes a difference
When running for the train.
One car will change your day
If you're in a crowded lane.

One sentence works a wonder,
If it's needed to be heard.
One deed brings a person light,
As does one kindly word.

One meal is often missed,
One crime means doing time,
One shoe is always searched for,
As is, at times, one dime.

But the greatest One of all,
Be it parent, teacher, friend,
Is the one with you when you're down;
Beside you to the end.
