My Goals:
I would like to lose 75 pounds within the next year and most of all I would like to become more fit so I can go hiking and camping with my kids and grandkids this summer.

My Program:
I am excited about all the tracking options on SparkPeople and I am going to use them all!

Personal Information:
I am the mother of six children (3 biological and 4 adopted as teenagers), and the grandmother of five handsome boys and the most beautiful little granddaughter you've ever seen! I have been married for 32 years to the same great guy who is also trying to lose weight and get in shape with me. My family lives in a fairly small town and I work full-time in the city and commute approximately two hours per day. I don't mind the commute because I can actually see the stars at night and enjoy an abundance of wildlife just outside my door.

Vali, I haven't seen you on the posts lately, and am wondering how you are doing with your meds. What did they put you on? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you are having no problems, and life is good for you. Hug those beautiful babies! Joy

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm so humbled that people can find inspiration in my pictures, but then I remember that I've certainly found lots in others. :) Together we keep the spark going! Isn't it neat how that works?

Hey there! Fellow spondy here. I just joined the AS thread on Spark, and saw your introductory post you made back in March. You mentioned that you were grateful to find a community of people with a similar condition, so I just wanted to let you know about a fabulous community I found several years ago! There's a forum: http://forums.spondylitis.org/ubbthreads.p
hp?ubb=cfrm and everyone on it is helpful, coming from all different backgrounds and genders and ages and disease status. I post whenever I have a question or need support. I'd encourage you to check it out!

As for me, I'm only 21 but I've had AS symptoms since I was about 12, and was diagnosed when I was 18. It's pretty mild for me which is a big praise to God, but I'm still trying to find ways to manage the pain without medication. I was put on heavy NSAIDs when i was diagnosed to get my flare under control, and it worked but resulted in an ulcer. Now I try to stay away from consistent medication and instead am focusing on finding trigger foods and natural remedies. (-:

I hope you're having a really great day, and that if you visit the forum you will like it as much as I did!
