After being told by numerous people that I need to concentrate more on myself and less on others, I'm finally doing something that will make ME feel better!

I am a stay-at-home wife and also a mother of two beautiful girls and a handsome little boy.

I suffer from chronic major depression and have some symptoms of OCD. I know that exercise and good nutrition (in addition to therapy and medication) go a long way toward making me feel better, so I'm doing what I have to do!

I took it way to easy on myself the last month and a half. For most of May and June, I didn't push myself. I wasn't concentrating on being healthy...although I did exercise a couple times a week...I just put almost anything into my mouth without caring about the consequences.

The consequence was that I didn't lose any weight. At all.

Alhamdulillah I feel like I'm slowly getting back into the game and I am slowly starting to lose again...and I'm thinking before putting anything in my mouth. I suppose it helps that I'm still making up the fasts from last Ramadan (30 days!!!)...

Fi aman Allah!

Update 3/2011:

I'm trying to lose the weight again after having a little boy in January. I've been having trouble with my cesaerean scar reopening, so excercise has been a bit limited until about a week and a half ago (although technically I'm not supposed to start exercising until next week--I couldn't wait). I'm concentrating on doing things that I know I'll be able to do for the rest of my I'm aiming for 20-30 minutes of exercise a day and NOT counting calories. I've recently formed a love/hate relationship with Jillian Michaels dvds and will be adding more to my routine in the future.

Update: November 21, 2011

I was between 205 and 210 lbs on January 4th, 2011. That's the day I gave birth to my third child. About twenty pounds of that was gone through giving birth and losing water weight in the first two weeks, so I started from there. I am now 144 lbs and I'm going to keep going. It seems easier now. I exercise daily and I keep a food journal. Nutritionally, I am making better choices than I ever have in my life and I've found what works best for me to keep hunger at bay. I've assembled a collection of Jillian Michaels dvds and they really help me to push myself. My elliptical comes in handy for a little extra cardio, too. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied. Having built up a lot of muscle, I fit into a size 4 despite being at the top of my healthy weight range. I've started packing up clothes to donate, because most of the clothes in my closet are now too big. I'll be in my skinny jeans by my son's first birthday.

My Program:
Daily exercise. It's that simple. I have an elliptical and I typically do 20 minutes before popping in a Jillian Michaels dvd. NMTZ, BFBM, 30DS, RI30, 6W6P, KB&T and YM are in my rotation. YM is generally saved for particularly sore days.

3 meals a day, 2 snacks. High protein, high fiber, high calcium, low on fat, simple carbs and sugars. A little cheating on the weekends, but I still try to stay within my calorie limit (between 1400 and 1600)
