160 or Bust!

Hi! I'm 46 (47 in March, ugh!) and started training and doing triathlons and 1/2 marathons six years ago. My weight has been yo-yoing ever since. I get my weight way down then the racing season is over and I start going out more, eating, drinking too much beer, laying off the workouts, Next thing you know BAM! I'm right back where I started.

I've not planned any races for this season, although I imagine I'll get into SOMETHING before the season is over, but right now, I'm at my highest ever weight, and I really want to concentrate on getting that down first.

Hi There. honestly I don't know how I'm not smoking right now. Wednesday night the hotel I'm the GM for was destroyed by fire. Everything is gone. Its been crazy, police, fire investogators, insurance adjusters and reporters everywhere. I don't have an answer for you because I can't explain it. Even as I stood through the night watching thehotel burn, and my staff was smoking around me...I just didn't. Its not that I don't have cravings or tempationas because I've had some doozies. I've just managed to breath, drink water, jump on my treadmill. Although since the fire none of that no time. I was 3 days with no sleep even when I had an opportunity to sleep the adrenalin was pumping so much and my mind in such a whirl I couldn't. This weekend was my birthday and as the sight was secured and nothing able to be done on the weekend one of the owners of the hotel insisted I go on the original trip to the city I had planned for my birthday and quit. One of the hotels there had given me complimentary night in their beutiful hotel and when we got there they treated me like I was the long lost queen. haha. They had several surprises for me, the most beutiful suite I've ever seen with the most incredible bed, and I was finally able to sleep a little, last night I slept through the night...so atleast I'm functional. I have a lot of anxiety right now, because Ihave to officially let my staff go and as you can imagine business wise a million things todo and all my records have burnt. Its pretty horrible and dealing with the cravings...but...I'm just not going to smoke and where that resolve came from...I have no idea, it almost seems to be coming from somewhere outside of myself.
You can do this...I'm doing it through this...and I know you can to. You just have to jump in and do it. Oh and weight wize, you can so lose weight when quitting. My last quit I lost 12 pounds and this quit I went from 169 down to 162 so far.

Good luck,
Heather

When you fall down, you just pick yourself back up and off you go and eventually we do learn not to fall down. hahaha. You can do this.

We seem to have some things in common, we both run, we both smoked, were both quitting and next month I'll be 47 too.

What is your current mountain bike and why did you choose it? I'm considering an upgrade and could use some input.
