Changing 'Gotta's into 'Wanna's

I first joined Spark about 6 years ago. Did really well for a while (lost 39lbs in 6 months), but let a new marriage, new job and "life" get in the way. I kept telling myself, "I gotta get back taking care of myself."

Well, it's 2014 - and now I WANNA get back to taking care of myself. Bad habits are bad habits... whether it's doing something harmful such as smoking or NOT doing things that are healthy... you can't change the habits unless you WANT to. Everyone can tell you ...
I first joined Spark about 6 years ago. Did really well for a while (lost 39lbs in 6 months), but let a new marriage, new job and "life" get in the way. I kept telling myself, "I gotta get back taking care of myself."

Well, it's 2014 - and now I WANNA get back to taking care of myself. Bad habits are bad habits... whether it's doing something harmful such as smoking or NOT doing things that are healthy... you can't change the habits unless you WANT to. Everyone can tell you that you gotta change (you can even tell yourself that), but you can't effect change until you're ready to; until you WANNA!

I turn 40 this year. I have a 2 year old daughter and 4 other beautiful children all under the age of 10.

I WANT to be around for their graduations.
I WANT to be around to know all of my grandchildren.
I WANT to be healthy enough to do fun things with my kids while they're still young, like walking the golf course with my son, without feeling like I'm about to die.
I WANT to be able to take them places, like the swimming pool, without being so self-conscious about the way I look.

In 2008, I weighed almost 260lbs.
In 2014, as of today, I weigh 228lbs. My BMI is through the roof and I get winded just bending over to tie my shoes.

It sucks, and it's time to effect change.

My Goals:
My goal is to get back to the weight I weighed in highschool... 180lbs. I will accomplish this by my 40th birthday (Nov. 2014).

My Program:
Started the Advocare 24 Day Challenge March 18, 2014. Completely changing my eating habits... most drastically, cutting out my Venti-a-day Frappuccino habit from Starbucks. I may shed a tear or two over it, but that's okay... I'll shed weight, too! :-)

Personal Information:
I own a web development company and my wife is the Music Therapist/APE coordinator for our local school district. Last year, we started a non-profit called Healing Gaits where we work with at-risk kids, teaching them life skills through horsemanship. We're blessed!
