Living with intention...

Around this time last year, I signed up for SparkPeople, lost twenty pounds, and was on the road to something great. I was feeling good about myself physically, emotionally and mentally. Physically, I was able to workout hard and see results quickly. But you know the old story; throw in some stress, complacency, and poor choices, and I gained it all back. Now I feel rotten physically, demoralized emotionally, and embarrassed mentally -- how did I let this happen? Twenty pounds lost wasn't ...

Physically, I was able to workout hard and see results quickly. But you know the old story; throw in some stress, complacency, and poor choices, and I gained it all back. Now I feel rotten physically, demoralized emotionally, and embarrassed mentally -- how did I let this happen? Twenty pounds lost wasn't even my goal, but it was a good start. At any rate, there's no point in berating myself; it's not productive. Intellectually, I know what needs to be done to get myself back on the path to physical health and emotional well-being. I have a very clear picture in my head of where I want to be, how I want to feel, and what I want to look like. It's just a question of doing it. So, I am rejecting complacency. I am rejecting laziness, I am rejecting lethargy, I am rejecting the "status quo," I am rejecting poor choices, letting stress get the better of me, and the emotional rock I under which I occasionally cower. I am living with intention.

My Goals:
Well, as this is the "goals" section, it seems reasonable to keep it updated. This time around, I'm going to try the concept of rewarding myself for small gains... or, looking at it another way, I'm going to try holding things I need/enjoy hostage until I reach a certain goal. So... Goal/Reward Number One: after losing ten pounds, I will allow myself to get a much-needed massage! :-)

Personal Information:
I'm a 32-year-old Canadian medical professional. I love plants, reading, writing, philosophizing, learning... and am working on adding "running" to this list! I can't stand shift work, the morally corrupt, glitter, the feel of microfibre, and tailgating.

Thanks for your comment back about your blog! I have a greenhouse (for the first year ever), and I have spent a lot of time out there thus far this year. I am getting a jump start on growing herbs and veggies, and can't wait to see what kind of things I can produce in that greenhouse!

Good luck on the paper you are writing!! It sounds interesting!
